Question About Avatars

I have a question about avatars. I am trying to make a custom one. Its the right size, but when i hit Save Changes it says it is not a valid file. What does this mean, and how do u fix it? Thanks!!!!!!

Try making the dimensions smaller and saving it as a PNG file.
