What's the average speed a toon levels up?

I started 10 days ago with Cat Astrophy and I have:

52 Laff
4 Sound
5 Throw
4 Squirt
3 Drop
100JB
40gag

Am I missing something? I've getting the hang of camping but I noticed a lot of people have seriously maxxed toons and the game started only like 2+ months ago.

Well...

The game has been around a few years. Look at some of the old posts here. LOL They're dated. hehe

You are right on track, for someone playing 12 hours a day.

If you pick tasks wisely, you can be done in another 3 weeks.
LMBO

edit: With you're first toon. Try and catch that AOL fan(HAHA!) with 12!
Hope you're training toon-up. Some bigger toons (like me) will pass on a toon without it. If I see you standing in front of a 4law, and there's no help, I won't do it with ya. And you obviously pick laff tasks first. Upon closer inspection make that 4-5 weeks.

Well I'm at the Burrgh w/ tasks, I work like 12 hours a day, and yes, I sleep so no, 12 hours/day is not my TTO time. I prefer getting laff up fast so I can take on the harder buildings and really get the most out of invasions. I only had toon-up since yesterday and I'm 20xp from lvl3 toon-up. Toon-up is low since I chose sound first.

Bug fixes are nice, but come on - there hasn't been any notable change to Toontown since the official public release on June 2nd. The fireworks were a nice distraction for a few weeks in July, but please put in something we can interact with and lasts longer than a minute or two!

Elder tasks were added to the test server on June 19th. These don't seem like they'd need eight-plus weeks of testing before they could be moved to production - what's up...?

The catalog was on test on July 3rd.

A new street in Dreamland would be nice, maybe a few level 13 or 14 cogs...
Note: June 2nd for the PUBLIC. I wasn't a beta tester.

One mistake a lot of people make, myself included, on the first toon, and some on even more toons: Using a gag that gains no skill credit. So some get off to a slow start. Not that's that you. There are people here that still haven't maxxed a toon after a year. Surely you've learned to use lower gags on lower floors and higher gags on higher floors. When you get to the top floor, and you're with a group a cog-killers, use your top gags first, for the skill credit. When camping, use your top gags for the kill shots. You've probably figured this out, though.

Don't worry the points come easier once you get level 5 gags.
Drop is the hardest. I have a 59 laffer with a piano, and drop will be maxxed first. But that toon doesn't play with a bunch of pie-tossing noobs. Lure>trap>drop. drop drop drop Jumped in a bldg today with a 100-laffer who didn't my piano. "Wow!" " I haven't found it yet." "You Rock!" of course I replied "Yes." " Thanks!"

Me either. My 3-year found the link at the Disney web site. ('Made' me do it. 10 trials later I was playing and paying.)
Like a store that opens six months before the Grand Opening, it's been available for public consumption. No biggie. You're still newer than most members will be in 6 months.

6 months, what kind of kooky store is open that long before "officially" opening?

You can get a weak 100Laffer in three (I have one like that) but maxing all gags wll take longer than that. I think 5 or 6 weeks minimum.

I do my best to only take GENERIC cog tasks that allow me to go anywhere. Or at worst stay in a certain area, but no restrictions on cog "race" or "species". Making only visit tasks a bear.

Edit: by the time I had cog radar...I realized I hardly needed it

This is the crux f3lixx: shopping. If your aim is to progress quickly, all time spent shopping is the best investment you can make. On the last set - the progress from 91 laff to 100 laff - shopping for a day (doing a building here and there to help friends) can save you weeks and weeks (make that months and months if you think 80 lvl 12 cogs sounds less daunting than 1,000 cogs - by the time you have seen 80 level 12 cogs you will have killed at least 80x20x2*=3200 cogs, usually more). When you hit 91 laff, make sure you have 4 empty task slots. The best I have had after that was 400, 500, 600 and I think 800 generic cogs. It's a fun time because you have nice gags and all you need to do is help other people through whatever building, wherever they need it. You'll find that you don't care about building hoppers, empty streets in DL and all that. It makes for a far more relaxed toon life.

* x20 because that will be the average number of cogs you find in a 5st bld, x2 because only roughly every other 5st has a lvl12 in it.

I completely agree. It's total freedom that I enjoy, and lvl12s are very hard to find and that is not freedom. Question:

What are the tasks for:

30 day big toon?
30 day colorless?
30 day transparent?

I want to cash in all 3 to the HQ at the same time, so I need access to all 3 at some point before I complete any of them.

You do realise they don't stack do you?
If you are colourless and cash in the reward for big toon, you get your colour back and vice versa. People have been very frustrated about this when the Just For Fun tasks were introduced.

There hasn't been a character reset since October 2002, so there are a lot of Toons that go back that far (10 months).

The Test server came up in January 2003, and hasn't had any character resets.

This month will mark the second anniversary for the first public players, there are still a few of them around, I think. :)

As for power-leveling a Toon, the current record is held by Tornado and another Toon whose name I forget, they maxxed out Toons in about the same amount of time, under 2 weeks. ( Thread here ). I'm not sure who was first to max out since the last reset, it might have been Skip.

There isn't really any way to compare the good ol' 1.0.13 version of Toontown for power-leveling. Back then, we had all gag tracks available, but had to take them in order. Buildings gave 1x#floors experience, instead of 0.5x#floors. We had the 9999 bug on gag experience making maxing gags interesting, and the 99 Laff bug to finally kill off a Toon. Ah, for the good old days. :)

Aw, man they don't stack? How hard is that? I mean geez, it's flash, just apply the masks, consarnit.

I guess colorless will be the activity of choice. How do I become 30 day colorless (or colorful depending on how you look at it)?

Edit: I'm not trying to break any record on maxxing, I was just wondering how to make the most of my time, and I've been given gr8 tips!

And we had to deliver a bugle whose levelling XP got reset almost every day

And we had a Lil Oldman who had whims instead of being the predictable character he is today. Refusing to recognise my achievement, I had to do him twice on one toon in Beta 2! He was so life-like! Except that, of course, he didn't apologise.

Ah for the frustrating old days.

Dead easy - three stages:
1. Hit 100 laff - time you spend "altered" is related to laff level.
2. Shop for a task
3. Complete and cash in the task.

Make sure its an easy task BWAH HAH HAH!
