Unhappy All you puter geniuses I need your help...

I haven't been able to log on to Toontown since getting my new puter. I have done everything I can possibly imagine including uninstalling. My problem is that when I try to start up Toontown, I see the movie, but it doesn't update after a certain point. When the movie starts over, it seems like my update does also. TT staff said it could be because I have earthlink and they have a banded browser. So my question is how do I remove the earthlink branded browser thingie without losing my way to access the internet ( I do already have Internet Explorer 6 installed. ) Can anyone help me????

I can't really help you in that area, but have you called Earthlink and explained the problem?

Nope. I thought maybe there was a way just to uninstall the earthlink add on stuff. I was hoping someone would know. I really hate being on hold for hours which is why calling them is a last resort for me ROFL

Well, I personally would ask Earthlink unless you get someone else on this site who has the same problem and knows how to fix it. But messing with IE settings can be pretty harmful to your computer considering they made it a part of the operating system now! Good luck though! Hope you get up and running in Toontown.

Don't use Earthlink's browser, it stinks. You don't need to uninstall it, just don't use it period. (Even with AOsmelL, you don't HAVE to use their browser just because it comes with the connection, except for email purposes.) Just open Internet Explorer and type 'play.toontown.com' in the address bar. When you connect to earthlink, just close out their browser if it automatically opens. I know when I had them, it did. Do you have dialup or broadband? I had Earthlink with dial up, so I don't know how different it is with broadband. I know that when I did have them, I set it up as a very simple connection bypassing the auto startup of their browser and chose my own email client. If you have cable or DSL, it should be as simple as plugging in the line to the router or modem or whatever they give you and opening up whatever browser you want. I believe toontown requires IE to run properly, not that it's the best browser out there.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. I did uninstall the earthlink total access software. I couldn't figure out how to make the tool bar from popping up when I opened Internet Explorer. I am now sitting here looking at my toons' faces and downloading the toontorial. Thank you all again!!!

you can use 2 different browsers on one computer, just not 2 ISP's on one computer (I.E. AOL and RoadRunner together would clash and really mess up stuff). So try opening up and downloading Toontown with the internet explorer.

an example of using 2+ diff browsers on one comp is ME!!

i have FireFox, Netscape, and internet explorer all on one lil package of a computer

-EDIT: i just found out u fixed the problem, i was too late... oh well... least u fixed it....

You can use AOL on RoadRunner. I think you have to pay additional fees to use it. AOL High Speed is currantly using Road Runner lines to host it.
