How you can get an animated avatar without saving

Say there was an animated avatar on another site. Let's use the site scarry12 uses to get her avatars for example. If you wanted to get that avatar without saving it, what you would do is:

Right click on it and push, Properties.

In the middle section, there should be something that says: Address (URL)_______

Right the address on a piece of paper.

Then go here.

At the bottom of the page, there is a rectangle, that says right above it, Enter Avatar URL.

That's where you right the address (URL) in. (You do not have to put hppt://www. because that is already there.)

Make sure that the address (URL) is right. If it doesn't work the first time, that is probably because you spelled it wrong.

Once you have entered the address (URL) click the save changes button. Congratulations! You should now have an animated avatar, that is not from TTC.

(Sorry that I could not provide pictures! If this is from somebody who made the avatar for you, it would be good to save it. But if it is from a website such as the disboards, you shouldn't have to save it, just because they will probably keep those avatars there, and maybe add new ones. but if you do want to save it, go here, to learn how.)

And... most of all PLEASE DO NOT copy off someone else's board. This is mostly for sites that make avatars for people to use anywhere.

Hope this helps!

P.S. Saad, I hope that you do not mind if I use your post, I really thought that many people would know what you meant, as you did a very good job of explaining things.

Whatch were you do this.

Edited because she put a warning in her message.

BTW if you do run a board and don't want people "hotlinking" your site I can PM you a great piece that uses .htaccess and php to stop it.

Oh, sorry! I edited it telling people NOT to copy off other people's boards, and that this is more for the sites that make the avatars for people to use anywhere. Or if you wanted to use a smiley.

I knew you didn't mean for people to get pictures where they were not supposed to. I just didn't want someone who may not know how most hosting services work thinking they could use it anywhere.

There are sites that will let you hotlink their images, you just have to be sure beofore you do it.

Yes, you shouldn't directly link an image from someone's site, also known as hotlinking. That is STEALING bandwidth from that website, which is bad.

Also, if someone has a site with avatars for you to use, you should still host it on your own server so it doesn't take away bandwidth anyway.
