Angry Moving your toon to a new account? Beware......

After starting a second TT account, I wanted to move my primary toons to the new account so I could play along side my kids. Easy enough. I sent the email to Disney making the request on July 30th and just now got an email saying they had completed the job. Only I wasn't expecting what they also did....

Quote:
Thank you for your recent email.

We have moved Z.Z. Fuzzymonkey and Donkey Kong from account xxxxxxx
to account xxxxx per your request.

Please write us again if you have any further questions.

We're sorry the name you chose for your Toon (Donkey Kong) was rejected
and changed to "Toon". We have complex criteria that we use to judge
submitted names. All names that are submitted by users are run through
various filters and are approved by hand by a game operator. Although
we cannot comment on the specifics of your case, rest assured that the
name approval process ensures that Toontown will remain free of names
that are obscene or generally do not fit within the world of Toontown.

Please keep in mind that while you may not have intended to choose an
offensive name, we must be concerned with how other players will
perceive the name of your Toon. Since there are many children playing
Toontown, we must err on the side of caution.

You may resubmit as many names as you want until one you like is
accepted, or you may choose a name from the Pick-A-Name screen to have
it instantly approved.

The guidelines used to approve Toon Names can be found by visiting:
http://play.toontown.com/nameApprovalGuide.php

Thank You,

Andrew

If it was ok the first time around, what's changed? They never fail to amaze me. So be forewarned if you decide to move your toons to another account. Guess I need to change my sig once again......

Donkey Kong is a copyrighted name by Nintendo I'm sure. They're being
PARANOID! Argh! Sorry duder. More than likely they leave existing names
alone when updating their 'criteria', and took occasion to do that when it
was drawn to their attention.

Edit: You would think you would get a response like "Yessir!" Right away sir!"
I'm a bit angry about this. "Thanks for the added business, ZZ Fuzzymonkey.
Oh yea, now that you've paid for your account, we're going to change one of
your toon's names because it might offend another compan....er, player."

<Rat bastages>

I suggest you re-submit the very same name

I kind of figured that, and to some degree, I understand. But you mean to tell me they didn't know that the first time around?!?!!?

OK folks, time for suggestions.
What should I submit as a name for a rotund (that means "fat" for all you kiddies out there ) brown dog. Or pehaps I should just leave it as "Toon"

Did they say a person reads it? If so, why the automated responses? The above answer has nothing to do about why a pick-a-name name was rejected!

Rats! Sorry to hear that - their whole naming policy seems to be a mess. Some of the names I've seen get through are crazy and I have seen them reject some of the simplest of names.

Wonder if they'd allow the name "Identity Theft" or "Identity Crisis"?

I love that! Particularly Identity Crisis. We'll see what else comes in.
We've got us a front runner folks.
Maybe we should call this the "Name that Toon" post. LOL

EDIT: I have opted to try a name suggested by my kids: Angus MacBurger
Let's see what Disney has to say about that.....

I had a name accepted on the open servers and rejected on test.
The most recent one that made me go was a test toon my son made for his grandma, she asked for the name Mystery. It got rejected.
So I put through Mysterious and it got accepted. Very weird.
They seem to go beyond the guidelines and let their personal experiences guide their judgement.

How many Daisy's have I seen in TT?? Quite a few! I tried the name Dayzee and it got rejected.

Soo the moral of the story is just keep resubmitting the same name and it will go thru eventually...just gotta get a TTO staff member who's in a rush hehe.

I have to admit, the Toontown-Name-Accepter-People are not as smart as we think.

And I am living proof! I am the ONLY toon that has a 5 word name! (Which is NOT alowed!)

Another reason, is that my friend and I decieded to make twins, and her toons name is Baka Baka Boo. Baka, meaning in english, stupid or idiot.

I tried to get my twin called Baka Baka Too. I had to submit the name OVER 10 times!

Finally, just out of pure luck, I got a person who was either too lazy or too tired to look up the word Baka...

Well, my advice is to keep trying...ONE person there must not know who Donkey Kong is.
