Searching forums for a string in a sig?

I used to be able to search for items in a signature - handy because lots of people put their toons in their sigs. But lately I can't anymore, based on tests with mine and some others. I get posts where the name is mentioned in the *post*, and posts where the name is part of a user's name, but not posts with that string or combination of keywords in the signature. Has some operation of the board changed? I'm using the default 'search entire post' option in the search page.

Sigs are dynamic with this software. If you change your Sig, it changes in all of your existing messages.

I'm pretty sure that this software never did a search within sigs. I suppose that it would be handy to have one thread for "What Toons do you play?", where they are included as part of the message, so they could be searched.

Of course, if they were all in one thread, you could just do a search on that page, too. :S
