HARDCORE toontown. Would it work?
Your toon stays alive only as long as it doesn't die. Not even once. Therefore, you have to play more carefully and strategically.
If Disney could fit this special variant into TT, would anyone be interested in playing this type of game? There are pros and cons of course. Lag, silly public teammates would aggravate you more, and a sense of friendly sharing community spirit MIGHT be lost. And then there's the excitement and the thrill of personal sense of victory with each day you survive. Wouldn't a toon who made it to 40+ laff be a truly bragging-rights thing? I'm just curious. Would you create a hardcore TT character to play if Disney allowed this option? (In addition to regular other TT games, of course). chris |

Disconnects could end your toon quickly
The lose laff would work better than the end of the toon. one ISP hiccup and you would be toast in a building.
A lot of game companys have studied this very thing and found most players prefer the restart where you left off gameplay. It would have a niche market tho for the truly hardcore player. 100 laff would be rare indeed except in the most cautious of players.

Well, that's my contention. Rarity would make 100laff toons a true sign of skill. Heavens, even a 40laff toon would cause a raised eyebrow!
Lag makes you have to play smarter. My madam and I used to play Diablo2 Hardcore (one death = you lose yr character permanently) and we often had to contend with lag on a major scale. It affected life/death a lot more than it would in TT actually as you have timers in TT and safe areas where you can stand on side of street etc. We played D2 cautiously and as smart as we could, watching for ping spikes and emphasising teamwork. Consequently, D2 hardcore players USED to be better than the normal D2 players. Until the hackers ruined everything, that is. I continue to be fascinated by the possibilities of fusing HC and TT into a special variant. I seriously think it could work for many. I mean, once oyu have 9999 in 6 gag trees, what else is there to go for? At present, I'm trying to play as intelligently as I can; learning from Lady Popcorn's gameplay. She kindly msgs us when she comes on (she obviously has much better things to do than to slum it with us) and I'm tryign to improve our timing and selection so that we don't bog her down too much. Hardcore would seem to be the next step? 33 laffs and still alive! Gulp* ("Not if I have anything to do about it!" says the LvL6 Penny Pincher down the street...) chris |

Hardcore
While it sounds interesting, in all likelyhood it would just be tedious. Since you can always flee a street fight, the truely cautious player would max out squirt and throw (and any other gag they could get) before they ever entered a building.

Now that all that is behind me, I have fun in buildings, armed with enough gags to get the toons I'm with out of trouble if needed, but mostly stocked up on my trusty bike horn and megaphone. The bike horn is just plain funny, and helps set up cogs for trap gags and lure without damaging too much. The megaphone serves another purpose. In some situations it is polite to pass to avoid killing a cog before another toon's gag is used (i.e. drop). So, intead of passing, I find it a lot more amusing to tell a joke. In my opinion, megaphone isn't used enough in this game. Some of those jokes are priceless! An added bonus to this is the toons that you are not secrets with saying "Huh?" since everyone is already at full laff.

Remember - This is Disney and the game is designed for Kids. The fact that us Adults like to play it means nothing to them. Death of a Toon? Real bad idea. My daughter wanted to go into a 5+ building on DL with a newbie and I said,
"No - we would get killed right away." she said "You mean we would be sad, right Daddy?" "You dont die, you get sad, right?" I could see that she almost got upset at the idea that her little mouse would actually die. It would never fly with Disney. I don't think the loss of Laff points would work either. How many times my daughter went into a building and "got sad" is too many. If she kept loosing laff when that happened, she would have gotten frustrated and stopped playing a while ago. Remember that this game is designed for kids, not adults. The fact we like to play it is just a plus.

I've always been hardcore baby.
But if they added this component in for those of us bored with the lack of cog hq I might actually think about NOT cancelling the subscription soon...
