What to use when someone else uses Lure?

I found out the hard way not to use Drop when someone else is using Lure. Does Sound negate the effect of Lure? Should I simply use Throw or Squirt? I don't want to mess up teamwork when taking over a Cog building.

Thanks. :-)

When other people Lure, you can:

- Toonup - If there are injured members, since Lured cogs won't attack.

- Trap - This helps the Lure succeed, although trapping 3 cogs at once can be bad if you are low on Laff points, since they will attack.

- Throw/Squirt - Usually no harm in these. It's generally good to throw/squirt the same target as other toons, that way you make sure it's defeated.

- Lure - If you also have Lure, you can use it too. Keep in mind that a low level Lure will lower the chances of a high level Lure succeeding.

- Sound - Generally not a good idea, unless the person Luring is working Lure and people are working Toonup and you are camping a floor. Generally this means that any toon present should be able to withstand being hit by all the cogs.

- Pass - If your group is in big trouble, and you need the Lure to succeed to survive, and you have no Toonup, this isn't a terrible idea.

- Drop - Sure, this works as long as someone else is hitting the Cog to knock it back for you.

I drop a lot when duoing, the other toon lures and I would have passed had I not had drop. Just so that if the lure succeeds I don't knock a cog back which is going to attack us again. While, if it fails, there is a chance that one of them gets at least damaged enough to be taken out in one light round after. It's a great thing to do in very heavy blds on the mid floors.

Few people understand this tho and I always get apologies when the lure succeeds and the safe knocks a hole in the ground behind the cog. I don't mind wasting a safe or two. I wasted sooooo many drops getting there

here's how I choose gags when others are luring. (the only gag I do not have is lure!)

if the other 2 (of 4) toons are taking out a cog, I'll whip out my cake and take out a second one.

I trap a lot

toonup

squirt if others are squirting

drop on the one the others are knocking back

sound if others are sounding....

...yes I know we all "know" not to sound lured cogs....but this is the best way to level up lure, toonup, and sound all at once because:

1. The lurer does not get points for the lure if the cogs step back on their own (they must be hit for the points to count)

2. Lured cogs don't do damage so if you need to work toonup you need to knock them back

3. Sound is a low damage attack but if 3 or 4 toons use sound it works great (especially if there are two or more foghorns maxed out)

4. Sound "stuns" cogs better than throw does for dropping purposes.

But please keep in mind that I wouldn't even suggest this strategy unless at least two toons have at least the pixie dust in heal. If all you have is cane best to get 3 toons with it. Just don't sound on lured cogs unless you are certain that

1. the cogs will not make anyone sad before toonups can be done

2. your group has enough toonups to restore every toon to full laff

hope this helps.

I am a newbie myself and find a couple things you guys posted curious, so can someone clarify them?

Have the devs stated this?

This seems illogical. You would think a second lure would only add to your chances. If it does work like this, does the rule hold true for all gags? Does someone throwing a pie slice lower the hit chance of my birthday cake?

Is this a nerf type measure to keep people from leveling it on the same cogs? If the Cog followed your lure and steped foward obviously the lure suceeded. You would assume you get points from it.

I like to know the game mechanics, so this stuff is interesting to me. I mean no disrespect, I'm just curious where you got your information. I assume you guys were in beta and have seen the devs post this stuff right?

Are there any official Disney sites with game info and/or sites where the devs post answers to game mechanics? I've never seen a game with so little info on their homesite. Its kinda shocking how poorly a company as large as Disney promotes a game with the potential of this one.

Thanks for your time.

No. Nobody has done a rigorous test of this, either. It would be rediculously hard to verify quantitatively, since the chance to hit increases with experience. BUT, it is easy to see when using low-level Lures with and without Trap. I would GUESS that Trap increases the chance of $1 Lure to hit by 2-3 times. It's a lot less, as the Lure level goes up. With Goggles, I can't see any difference.

It kinda makes sense. The chance to hit seems to be averaged. No idea on the actual figures, but it probably works like "Level 5 = 80%, Level 1 = 20%, Combined = 50%".
I think it works okay, someone with high-level Lure can help someone with low-level Lure, but there is a penalty. Without the penalty, you could level Lure so fast that there would be no point to leveling- you might as well just start at level 6.

Yes, other Gags like Throw can get jinxed by a low-level throw. It isn't nearly as big a deal, since you can simply Lure the Cogs before using Throw / Squirt / Sound and have a 100% chance to hit. (Note: for Sound to be 100%, ALL of the Cogs need to be lured. Sound CAN miss, if even one Cog in the group is not Lured.)

Drop works a lot like Lure, there is no way to guarantee a hit (except with the Lure Bug). A low-level Drop can jinx a high-level Drop, but it will have a better chance to hit than the low-level Drop by itself.

Again, we have no good experimental data on this. But, it is easy to see after killing a few thousand Cogs.

Guess so. How do you like it? :)
I think it gives the game some depth. Gives you a reason to carry Bike Horns and Squirt Flowers, and to keep track of how much damage the Cog has taken so you don't kill it by accident.

It's details like this that make a "Kid's Game" interesting for the older players.

From lots and lots of time in the game, especially back when the game was far more addictive than it is now.

Get used to it. Disney ain't like your run-of-the-mill game companies. They have a policy of secrecy that makes the CIA and the KGB look like a bunch of Blabbermouths.
Some information was gleaned from 1.0.13, when the Python files were separate, and only optomized, making them easy to examine. That's probably why they are now kept in the multi-file format. If anyone had a viewer for the multi-files, they wouldn't let on. We can keep secrets, too. :)
