Can't get on TT now, after last 2 updates

I could really use some help, if anyone has fixed this problem.

I cannot get onto toontown online the game site, it keeps freezing. I did not have a problem until the update of 2-20-04. Usually when there is a big update, but computer crashes trying to download it.

Theses are the steps that I have taken so far. Of course my first step was to send in a bug report to TT. They said to update video drive, uninstall TT and reinstall and check my on getting a 3-d graphics card. TT has worked fine since June of last year. I don't undertand the problem.

1) I uninstalled TT and reinstalled TT. (more then 6 times now). I got dsl so it is a quick install.

2) I reupdated my video driver.

3) I uninstalled my video driver and software (which is Intel 815) and reinstalled my video driver and software.

4) I found out that my windows media player was having a internal error. So I fixed the error, but rerunning set up and download the missing files.

5) I have zonepro for my internet protection with a firewall. I tried running with the firewall disenabled. The same result, grey screen with mouse. I have my firewall, trusting toontown, with the ports 80 tcp, 6667 tcp/udp, 6112 tcp/udp enabled to run. I have pop-up enabled.

6) I tried TT the game again, I final got it to go past the grey screen to the Disney Toontown online, graphics page, saying it is loading with the game version on the bottom left corner. The blue loading line moves just a little bit, then it freezes. I am very baffled.

I don't know what to do now. Anyone have any advice.

I know they were messing around with Directx. Do you know if your version of Directx is current?

You should also update Windows, that's a problem some people have run into.

Try setting it to Open GL from the shortcut in TTwindow, or run:
"C:\Program Files\Disney\Disney Online\Toontown\Configrc.exe" -OGL -save

Why bother running a firewall, there are some ports that stay open no matter what you do and hackers know which ports to hit...
also most viruses come through the email, so as long as you have an antivirus program you should be fine.

I would nuke the firewall altogether.
I think they cause more trouble then they're worth.

Have you tried reinstalling IE? That could be the problem.

When this happened to me a little while ago it turned out my hard drive was dying...I doubt it's that serious but I ran Toontown for two years with no issues, I didn't install anything new and all of a sudden it wouldn't run.

This is what my toontown log is saying at the bottom. Anyone know what it means?

I do have the lastest version of direct x 9.0b. Sorry that was one of the steps that I forgot to mention.

I just ran fix ie on my computer. That didn't help either. I am going to try and change the short cut next. Thanks guys. I am not going to give up. I turned off my firewall for now until I solve this problem.

Looks like there is a problem with the registry entry for toontown.
Even if you uninstall the game you have to go in and delete the registry entry as well.
Hit your command prompt and type in regedit then hit enter.
Then look for anything that looks like Toontown and delete it, after you uninstall Toontown that is.
Then redownload toontown and it should be fine.

I got it to work twice in the gl mode after I uninstalled TT and reinstalled TT and deleted the registry info like you guys suggest. I get extra stuff with my downloads like a folder named "c" with o bytes and a file called "~" with o bytes in it. Everytime that I uninstall and reinstall. Are these normal extras? I told TT tech, but they just ignored thoses comments and told me that I have a permission problem now. I am the administrator on my account. I know there is not a permission problem. I am just frustrated, I guess. Could my display adapter be going out? Do I need to replace it? Or could the start of my computer dieing? TT support keeps telling me the same thing. To update my graphics driver, which I have. To set it up in Gl mode, like kid bugs suggested, and to check out 3-d cards. I have a Intel(r) 815.

I update my bios motherboard. I was a task to do, but I followed the directions that I got from gateway. Then I erased toontown from the registry. Then I uninstalled TT and reinstalled TT. It works now with no problems. Thanks for all the advice there. Have a great day!!!

Glad you got it to work. I did not think the Intel adapter was GL compatible. Mine does not like GL at all! but as long as it works.

As for that folder, yeah I have one of those, but I have so many programs I had no idea who installed it. Good question:

This might be something we do make an effort to send to support. Not a "problem" but definately annoying.

Ya I've got that darn c folder!
I tried to nuke it and it came back. Oooooweeeoooo.
So it's something to do with Toontown?
