Exclamation Choose your tasks with EXTREME CARE

Hey hey. Those who have met me will know I am a NOOB and that I have suffered as a result of this [and of choosing toontasks whilst under the influence of alcohol]. As a result, Spunky Flipperflap has to defeat rather a large number of 12+ Cogs.

Resolved not to make this Noob mistake when Son of Spunky reached "a certain level", when he hit 80 Laff yesterday he had 2 ToonTask spaces and I resolved :

To get the best deal I could

As I had an hour and a half to spare I visited EVERY HQ in all the playgrounds and on all the streets. What a surprise was in store.

The task I eventually took was:

3 LAFF for 700 Cogs Anywhere

As you will note if you bother to download the sheet attached [TO the next MSG. this failed], some HQ officers were prepared to rip me off. And how!

A certain green duck in the Daisy Gardens PG even tried to sell me:

ONE LAFF for only 100 5+ Sell Buildings

For those who are interested, I have attached the complete list of 240 Tasks I had to choose from. If you do as I did yours will be different, but it serves to give an idea.

In fact, when I next cleared a task space I got "3 Laff for 500 Cogs Anywhere" in the first HQ I went in. Needless to say, I didn't do any running around after that.

Sorry I can't attach the Excel Sheet (with the pivot tables and graphs) bcos its not a valid file extension. BUT you can have fun doing it yourselves

LOL

Enjoy!

EDIT: No - I didn't bother to go into all the shops. I know they can give tasks too, but the prospect of seeing Lil Oldman again.....

I've noticed that once you've gotten those sweet "defeat 500 - 1000 any cogs anywhere" tasks they do not show up again. So now Miss BBP has horried tasks like defeat 320 9+ cogs, defeat 240 Number Crunchers, etc.

Once you've used up the best ones my advice for choosing tasks falls along these lines:

1. Choose tasks that can be completed anywhere. This way no matter where you go to help a friend you can get credit on your task.

2. If limited to specific cog type tasks, choose something you can get in the street if need be. I'd say that probably about 30% of my number crunchers I am picking up in the street either waiting for someone to show up for a building or just leaving one. There are also no level 10+ cogs on the street, so lev 9 is my limit.

3. When selecting building tasks, go for the non-specifc types. It also helps if they are a lower floor level. I chose 400 2+ bldgs as opposed to 100 5+ simply because I like to go to DD and DG and help friends. A lot of the bldgs there are 2's and 3's.

Indeed

My advice at this level (80 Laff+) is :

Never take anything but "Cogs Anywhere" tasks and keep looking (there are 20 HQs) if they ask for 1000 etc. as:

It will take less time to look for a 800 Cogs task than it would take to kill the 200 cogs that make the difference.

Let's be frank - there are 240 tasks out there in just the HQs - the right one for you is located ...
...
...
...
...
in the HQ AFTER the one where you give up and take 200 2+ Buildings.

Exclamation yeh, but ...

Heh, I love the tasks that we get offered after Lilold Man. The penalty for not getting "visit" tasks is that you have to work through all the high numbers.

There is one thing though that has been mentioned elsewhere about these awful tasks ... if you do accidently muck up (or pick after consuming big people soda) and pick a bad one then you cannot drop that task.

I would really hate to think if I had clicked on 500 Lawbot Buildings instead of the (accidently picked) 500 Lawbot Cogs Anywhere I picked the other night while chatting to someone!

These sorts of things could lead people to lose heart and stop playing. And that in turn means a less viable Toontown for Disney. This needs to be fixed! Give us the ability to "drop" a task please!

yes yes yes

I totally agree with Pudgey on this one. I accidently left a spot open on Mac with the intent of new content showing up someday. Well, my 4 year old son took care of those 2 spots for me.

Has anyone finished the 80 lvl 12+ cogs task?

I think I have givin up on it seeing how none of my friends are EVER on LE anymore. Oh well someday they will come back.

In a way i disagree yet agree...
i left once i'd struck 20 lvl 4+ by lkil old man, dad finnished that for me and i came back...
however i dont think toontown would let you drop a visit task maybe a task you chose...

yes that task dad chose of 500 law cogs was great it matched our tasks already of - 500 boss and 400 cash.... guess who is going to not be playing in test for a while? *grin*

Angry bad tasks

I know all about picking those bad tasks. I picked 100 5 story bossbot bldgs and 200 five story bldgs--it took me months to complete them. Thank goodness that's over. My only suggestion to anyone...is read carefully before you choose. Don't make the mistake I did and spend 3-4 months working on the same tasks.

During a visit task, I was asked to defeat 10 lvl. 8+ cogs. Well, the only place I could think to find them was in Sellbot Factory. So, I took two just 4 fun tasks, 1 for 1 cog factory, & 1 for 2. Then it hit me. DDL! So I went to DDL, defeated the cogs, & was stuck w/ 2 tasks I didn't need! C'mon Disney, make a "drop task" button! Please?

Unhappy bad tasks

Well I joined the club of owners of bad tasks about 3 months ago when I picked 1000 cogs in DDL for nothing more than a Clothing Ticket. I'm almost embarrased to admit it. Stooooopid me!!! When ya think about it, that is an awful lot to do for a new outfit! All I know is the clothes I get better be made of silk!!! I deserve to be "Stylin" after all those cogs....lol
Waves to all my friends in TT!!! Now get out of here and get that VP!
