The Guide to the VP: Tips and Strategies!
So. Hello, everyone! New to the Vp? Need some strategies? Wanna learn how to aim and throw pies, or just lookin' for a guide to polish your VP skills? Here are your answers.
NEW TO THE VP Welcome to the wonderful world of VPing. It's a really fun experience. Once you've got your 10 suit parts, you can walk into the Loading Lobby doors. (Loading Lobby is what I like to call it, the doors at the far forward of you when you enter Sellbot HQ leads to the area where you load the elevators to fight the VP.) Once you've got a group of seven or eight, (Visit the CCG http://www.toontowncentral.com/forum...play.php?f=168 if shuffling or griefers are a problem for you.) wait until the doors close and you're on your way. Now. Let's say you have a group of eight. The VP sends off the new cogs. He's keeping a shopkeeper from a street or store in Toontown prisoner. Once you defeat the VP, they will give you a reward. I'll cover that later. He expects you toons to be new Sellbots, since you have a cog suit. The game splits your group into two groups of four and sends you to defeat a number of cogs being shipped out from the VP's undercarriage. This round is pretty easy. The VP pretty much always sends out a Hollywood 12 and Cold Caller first. People may use sound or lure and trap. Small traps are good to use on the lower level cogs, and when you do this use a magnet to lure all the cogs so the Hollywoods and other higher-level cogs won't attack. (Small traps like banana peel, marbles, and rakes.) When you've finished the Cog round, here comes the real challenge: the Skelecog round. The VP moves up the ramp and up to the point where the shopkeeper's cage is and stops. You're supposed to run after him, but you don't have to, I usually don't. You're divided into groups of four again. You might be with the same or different people, it's random. Lure is best to use during this round, as the cogs are usually ranging in levels from 8-12. There is a strategy we CCGers like to use: 'Lure left, kill right.' That means someone pulls a hypno-goggles on the cogs, which lures them, and together the other three people kill the cog on the far right.Keep doing this until you've killed all the cogs in the Skelecog round. Now the 'lure left, kill right' strategy is used mostly only by the CCG. Most people in a non-CCG run will not be from the CCG, so therefore they may not know about this strategy. Anyways, lure is good to have on your side during the Skele round, and Toon-up also. When you've finished the Skele round, the action begins: the Pie round. During this round you jump up to reach the bottom of the shopkeeper's cage to recieve a stock of cream pies. DON'T WORRY; these will not run out. Lob the pies at the VP by either pressing the insert key or clicking with your mouse on the pie icon at the top of the screen; choose the one that's comfortable for you. Here's how to aim pies. Hold down the insert key or your mouse button. A power meter will move across the screen. If you release when the power meter is all the way blue, your pie will fly low and far. If you release it when the power meter is all the way white, your pie will fly high and near. When you throw pies into the VP's undercarrige, the pie will jam up the cogs of the VP and make him dizzy. He will turn red: this is your chance to move the VP down the ramp. Throw as many pies as you can at his head and chest. He will be pushed down the ramp. Now, the VP will attack back. The harder and jumpier the VP is, the rarer the SOS card will be. (I'll explain about SOS cards later.) The VP will jump, resulting in a loss of -10 laff. To avoid this, press the control key before he lands. Keep a good eye on the VP so as to watch for jumping. He will also throw gears at you. The gears will take away -3 laff if made contact with. You can toon someone up by throwing pies at them; each pie you throw restores +1 laff point. When the VP falls over the edge of the Parachute Pad, (the circular launch pad for cogs to take off) you've just completed your first VP! Congratz!Contact me by PMing me if you have any questions or comments. STUNNING So. You've mastered the knack of VPing and you want to learn how to stun. Congratulations! Yet you have no idea how to throw those pies perfectly into that undercarriage! Well, here's some help for you. Like I said earlier in the NEW TO VP section, the power meter matters! You can't just throw pies randomly to stun. Tell you what, getting a small toon for thirty days Toontask will help with stunning to avoid the little gears flying out from the undercarriage. Now positon yourself in front of the VP. Close. Don't be scared! Now turn a little sideways. Inch a bit closer, and hold down your insert key/mouse button. When the undercarriage opens, tap the insert key/mouse button lightly. The pie should go right into the undercarriage and the VP should turn red. It might take a few tries to get it right. The stunners are usually the ones who lose a lot of laff, so be sure to have a good toon-upper around. Once you've mastered stunning, you've conquered the VP! Sweet! REWARDS When you defeat the VP, the shopkeeper will come out of his/her cage. They will congratulate you and give you a reward for fighting him: a SOS card. A SOS card, when called in a battle, will help you fight cogs/ toon you up. Each time you defeat the VP, you get a SOS card. Some are rarer than others. Have fun VPing, and I hope this guide helped you. Not ready to VP yet? Check out my factory guide, coming soon: The Guide to the Factory: Getting your Suit! The info in the guide seems sound, however if you want to make this sticky worthy, you may want to consider the way guide is laid out.
Some sections cud be printed bigger, and a bit more space throughout, as its a lot to read, to take in properly, spacing it out with few more sections would be an idea. There are still a few mistakes in there, most notably the near bottom. For example of sticky worthy material, look a few threads above at Dogfathers task guides, most of the stickied guides are similair to this, noteably the size of this and space layout, which makes things easier to read. Don't take any of the above the wrong way, a lot of guides are slowly being updated, and the existing ones are old and probs out of date. So anyone making effort to make guides is welcome, my comments are only suggestions on how to make your guide stand out, and become a permenant fixture ![]() 'Keep it Kool ' |
