Quote from 9999 bug text: "The result of the 9999 Gag bug is that a character can be changed from Uber to Goober very quickly, as more Gags types are lost."
Hehehee Reading that always makes me laugh. I've never had an issue with 9999. This was in Beta 1 or 2. And is fixed in LE. The 9999 bug strategy is writen in the Beta pages. I think the elder folks here can better help if you need more info on it. Im still a N00b =) Edit: changed some text.

9999 not a problem anymore.
The Uber to Goober bug has been fixed in both LE and Test. Now when you reach 9999 you simply dont earn any more points but there is no danger of bugging your toon. For those that are interested in the old fix that was discovered its posted below. Note again this has been fixed and these steps are no longer required.
What that refered to was a bug in the earlier betas where if any battle gag points added to a tracks accumulated total exceeded 9999 your toon would crash. So say your track total was 9990 and you earned 10 more points for that gag in battle (9990 + 10 = 10000) which exceeded the 9999 maximum your toon would crash as soon as the dance sequence would begin. There was an old fix to this where you would carefullly monitor yout track total to get to about 9996. This took considerable attention as if you mis calculated and went over 9999 you would crash again. The plus side was if you did go over and crash the points for that round would not count. The downside was it would be possible to go over by a few points so say 9998 which would then require using lower gags in the next step to fix it. The next step became known as fixing your gag where you would load a gag for that track that would total +5 more points (for a total of 10001) with extras in case of a miss plus other gags to finish off the cog. An example would be loading a few Whole Cream Pies which on the street would be worth +5 points per successful hit on cogs of high enough level for credit. Enough would be loaded to account for any misses as well as other gags to ensure the cog was finished. For some the preparation also included preparing a download or other apps that would enable you to seriously lag your machine. The next step would be to find a cog that would give credit and start the download or whatever to induce the lag and hit the cog with the pie. if additional hits were needed other gags would be used to finish it off and when the cog began its distruct spin begin stabbing the F9 (screenshot key). This would completely lag out your machine and if continued the lag would eventually crash the client to the desktop and potentially everyone else on the street. I know that it did crash my second toon if it happened to be on the same street so it was best to pick a quiet screet with nobody in buildings. It was not uncommon in irc to hear someone warn that they were going to be fixing a gag on some street and for everyone to run for cover. If done correctly and with a certain degree of luck when you restarted the game you would find yourself back in the playground. If you came back sad it was a sure sign that the fix failed and it would be back to step one for another try. IF however you simply came back to the playground healthy (minus any hits the cogs got on you), a quick at your gag tracks in your sticker book would confirm you were successful. If the task you attempted to fix showed a point total of 9999 then it was "fixed" and you could use the gags from that track normally once again. There were some that for various reasons were never able to fix the track and the result was that gag (or toon) could not be used again. I heard there were at least a few toons who for whatever reasons could not get the above steps to work and ended up retired.

Thanks to all three of y'all - now I'm going to go out and fling pastry products around the streets to my heart's content! And when I'm done, I'm going to play some toontown!

The only "bug" concerning laff is that 100 is the limit and you might be able to accept a task that would theoretically take you over laff 100. When you compelte such task, you will end up with laff 100.
