Try to get into buildings during invasions. Without lure, or a friend with lure it is a bit more difficult however. When you get to the upper floors. Use multiple gags for each cog while the other cogs are lures.
e.g. Four cogs, 6,6,9,8
Lure them first. Hit the eight with a hose and relure. Hit the eight again with a storm. You have now almost doubled your points. In an invasion, double that again. You are also getting the floor multiplier by being in a building. Hit the nine, the same way. Now the sixes will go with a whole maxed cream pie, and they will be unluring. You have left these to the end, and they give lower hits than the 9 and 8 so you will have better chances of surviving. Use your cream pies or better yet, bring along a friend who is working toonup, hit with a fruit, relure, and then a cream pie.
You can also take the approach of goggles, hit and relure, move to the next cog, hit and relure, all down the line. Move to the first one again and finish him off. You are still going to take four hits. But not two at a time.
The lower floors move through quickly, and avoid as many hits as you can. With a pair of cogs, opt to take one out in one hit, and the second in two, if you are going to be running out of gags.
You won't be able to do this with random toons, so don't expect to do so. They won't understatnd what you are doing.

I will go into a building and work gags still to recover my level sevens quickly if I have had a few bad runs or am very close to the next one. Maximum points for any gag track is 200.
You will have fun getting out with some teeth knocked out, but making it back to the sidewalk regardless!
