How do you mean by that? How to literally read it? Or how to interpret what people are trying to hint through speedchat?

Well get over that because thats how they learn the speedchat phrases by asking over and over till they recognize it. My 4 yr old or should I say 5 yr old now has and still does this but to a lesser degree now. She has learned to recognize what they are. It called learning. Don't discourage the young mind. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

To improve her reading in the game you need to improve her school skills.

If she's failing in an area in school then she needs to be focusing more on improving there instead of improving on learning speed chat in an online game.

I know that sounds harsh but that's what I do with my son who's 5 and in Kindergarten. He knows that if he has a bad school day, doesn't pay attention when he needs to, doesn't do his at home reading each night, etc and if he starts to fail in an area at school the first thing to go is Toontown.

It was tough at first to lay down the law but consistancy worked and where he wouldn't pay attention or participate before he's done a complete turn around because he knows bad day = no game time.

It took him 2 days of no game time to start paying attention and participate. LOL

Im just saying that i dont think a 6 yr old should play toontown. They should first learn how to read atleast which i think most kids should learn when they are 7 1/2. your friend should wait or otherwise get a tuter because (my geuss... and no offence) they are still learning the ABC's. so tuter them or tell them to wait for a while. This is what i say but toontown is a "any age site" so she can keep going on toontown. And if you dont wanna do that and you wanna keep going teach her the sounds of the words intel she can sound it out or if she is saying somthing sound it out. for example, if she/he wants to read "howdy!" say "h, h, o, o,w,w,d,d,y howdy. ps. good luck with that. pss.more good luck with that. psss. happy april fools! pssss.happy easter! psssss. I like cheese.

My 5 year old is already reading almost all basic words and even harder ones.

your friend should wait or otherwise get a tuter because (my geuss... and no offence) they are still learning the ABC's. so tuter them or tell them to wait for a while.

My son knew his ABC's by age 3. He's been wanting to play TT since he knew the character's names (Mickey, Minnie etc).

This game in the few months he's played have helped him greatly in many areas.

Some of them are....
  • team work
  • patience
  • computer skills
  • think before you act (don't just hit a gag button, look what everyone else chooses)
  • problem solving (if they choose lure, don't use sound etc)
  • reading

As for speed chat, he knows he's not allowed to use it, period with out my help (we had a problem with him accidentally doing a "you stink" at the wrong moment, lol). Hubby's computer is next to mine which is what he plays on. When he is told something and a reply is needed to be respectful back I help him pick the right one.

He also is banned from buildings with out me there. Just to many scenarios can arise with him doing something by accident and getting "stunk" to death.

I don't see a problem with younger ages playing... as long as their game time is properly monitored by an adult.

You need to find what the problem is and teaching her speed chat on TT isn't a help. Speed chat doesn't stay on long and since she can't read much it's to fast for her to comprehend it. Just don't let her use speed chat just battle the cogs. TT is not subsitute for learning in school.
