Please be my friend question

Hi everyone. I have what is probably a dumb question. Several of the people on my friends' list have been messaging me lately saying the same two things:

"Please be my friend."

"Use the Speedchat."

At first I thought it was just weird but now I suspect they are asking for something else that I simply can't figure out. I think it has something to do with becoming a Secret Friend but I don't understand what to do. Several friends are saying it over and over to me whenever I come online and apparently are getting frustrated with me for not understanding. I'll admit to being frustrated myself, so can someone help me out here or at least tell me that I'm not the only one who is clueless? Thanks.

yea when they say that they wanna b sf
so the code has letters right well u say any word wit the same first letter as ur code(the rest of the letters dont matter in that word only first letter) and if it a number u jump
