Question mystery in the coin mint

Some more experienced friends took me into the coin mint for the first time. They were very good, waited for me, and helped me along.

We came to a barrel in a corner. They went behind the barrel, to where I could only barely see them. Then they took out their schticker book. Then they jumped -- and they disappeared! They got to some other level or place.

They came back to me again and again and tried to explain what they were doing. I tried and tried, kept taking out my book and putting it away and jumping -- but I had no idea in the world what the book had to do with anything. So I finally had to give it up.

Can anybody explain to me what was going on? What were they doing?

P.S. Example of good toon behavior: these guys came back to me and took me around another way, instead of deserting me there in the mint.

After you opened and closed your sticker book, did you ever see a grey zone? That's what you're aiming for. Once you get the grey zone, you go into it, and you can run to the next floor. I don't remember jumping tho.. just opening and closing the sticker book....

My Mood:
First, you go behind the barrel, or wedge yourself in and then open your Shticker Book. Close the Shticker Book, and you should see a grey atmosphere ahead of you. Jump or walk into the grey. Then, make a left towards the floor and continue towards whats next to be defeated in the mint.

Hope that helped. It's hard to explain through simple text.

Toontown is drawn in 3D software written by cogs so there's large gray world outside of the colorful toon world (I sense a conspiracy). In a few places game glitches allow you break into the gray world. Just like in the Matrix, the rules are different out here. The floor is invisible, your elevation is controlled by unknown forces, there are no walls, if you pass through a real toontown wall you can't go back, and if you try to bypass too much of the level you will see other toons but not be able to reach where they are. If you're all alone or in a group that wants to experiment you can explore as much as you like. If you are in a normal group that wants to get things done you need to stick to the known uses of that gray world. If you are stuck, go towards any stair or back to where you entered. You might need to help a toon that has gotten stuck for the first time and doesn't know how to get out. "This way" and "Follow me" works wonders.

The most common reason to go outside the normal toon world is to bypass a puzzle that is difficult or time consuming. One such puzzle is a Mints room with a single large gear, several boxes and shelves, one plunger, and the 5 power up barrels up on a ledge. Toons will jump behind an Ice Cream barrel underneath a money rack, open their schticker book, and disappear, then reappear up near the barrels. There are multiple ways to break out of this room but you rarely see anything other than this technique which easy enough to do in a few seconds with some practice.

Jump behind the Ice Cream barrel. Sometimes the barrel is very resistant so keep trying.

Push forwards and rotate until the gray and color alternate. You've rotated too far if your toon walks away from the barrel.

Open your schticker book and you will be bounced out. Carefully walk towards the ledge. You might need to walk all the way to the stair to get your elevation corrected.

For added fun stand just before any wall barrier and select Angry. If you are positioned right other toons will see your face animation sticking out from the wall just like the elevator fun and run over to you. The Angry sound should warn them to look around. This can be very useful when teaching other toons how to break out into the gray world. It lets them know that you really are behind the wall and haven't disappeared.

Some of you may experiencing "Gray Backgrounds" in the Factory. That makes other Toons still and you get confused. They will stay still and still be fighting cogs. On your screen you won't notice. If that happens exit and report now. Then get back on and tell your friends to start over and you can battle the Foreman again.
