here is a pro and con list of the Bamboo Rod
Pro:
you catch 20 jb instead of 10
you can catch up to 8lb fish
heacvier fish are worth more jb

con:
Cost 2 jb a cast
get about same amount total for 20 fish
cost 400 jb
can catch low wieght fish(good and bad)

so it is nice to have but you spend your jb so fast. i normally spend about 30 to 40 jb with twig now its 60 to 80.

Some of the fish needed to get the next trophy can only be caught with the heavier rod do its a necessary investment for most toons. Ive still managed to make a net profit in beans but as the cost of bait goes up so does the need for accuracy. The boots can put a big dent in your take but with some care and bigger fish its worth upgrading to the better rods.

Probably the best thing to do then is to rack up all the beans you can while you still have your twig fishing pole. Then you won't have to worry about having to spend all those extra beans w/ your bamboo and bigger poles. Also because you can catch the bigger fish, there is a bigger payoff in beans. I guess, also, just don't be so hasty to cast & reel them in quickly. I see a lot of toons who cast then pull it in quickly when it's not close enough. I'd give it all the time you have in the counter it displays & see if it comes toward you. It's kind of like fishing in real life. You have to wait to see if you get a nibble.

I have found that in the lower playgrounds my net profit with bamboo it much higher, 70 - 100 beans per 20 fish, but in TB and DL I only make 40 -60 beans per 20 fish. Those boots are plentiful.

I was making only 30 - 70 with the twig. So, overall I am getting beans faster and if your toon can hold many beans, I reccomend the pole upgrade. If your toon can only hold 40 beans, that is only 20 casts, and that is hard to max out on fish in that number of casts.

On a side note:
I am very accurate at casting and without boots I would only need around 25 -30 casts for my 20 fish. I have found that the faster I catch items, the more boots I catch. I have caught 16 boots in 20 casts, that gets very nerve racking.


I am babbling now so have fun and remember to catch and release, so they grow to be bigger.

My biggest haul so far was 166 beans for 20 fish, using the bamboo rod (KimberWoof has hers). And that's no "fish story"!!!

It seems as though when you catch a fish, the fish is randomly picked from the database. If the fish is too heavy for your rod, it is turned into a boot.

When I fished with the twig rod, I received a lot of boots, but now with the hardwood rod I get boots only once in a while. In the brgh this is really noticable, since now I am catching the Bear Acuda fish almost every other cast.

On a side note:
Hardwood rod costs 3 beans to cast.
- can catch a 30 bean jar
- I usually average between 150 - 220 beans for 20 fish (brrgh)

I am a very accurate caster, but even with 30 casts for 20 fish, you spend 90 beans total. This nearly doubles my beans every bucket. I just got my 5000 bean bank last night, and started with ~ 750 beans. I now have just over 4500 beans just from fishing.

Yes, all of us could open a shop on the street for boots. LOL. I think in Toontown Central of all places a old, wet boot would actually sell! LOL

It seems to me though that with time you get less & less boots. Even on the twig rod, after so many casts of getting boots, they seem to be less & less frequent. Now that I've got a bamboo rod, it seems even more so. I think once you start fishing you get boot after boot it seems. Then maybe once you get past a certain number of good casts, that produce fish, it becomes less. I could be wrong, but it seems that way. Maybe all those rabbit feet that my toons have had just made me lucky.

I just caught an olympic pool shark in the playground in DG for 31 beans w/ the bamboo pole!

ooo...caught another, with a kiddie pool shark & a swimming pool shark in the same playground! with the load that I just gave to the pet shop clerk, I had a kiddie pool shark, swimming pool shark & another olympic pool shark for a total 163 beans!!!! I like this game!

As I told Wetrat last night while we were fishing, I've never seen so many fast-swimming boots in my life! I just love it when a shadow swims quickly into/alongside your cast and you end up with a boot. Hmmmmm.

I know! I've noticed that too. I can believe that it is a boot if it's stationary but when it just races across the pond like that, I think hmmm...where's that boot going in such a hurry & since when do boots like beans?

i cant find a hardwood rod i have a banboo and still get only starfish clownfish and some other a little more rare ones i have no hardwood in my catalog i only use 1 toon cool pancake!

Do you have to be a 100 laffer to start getting the trophies, or can you start trying for those 5 extra LP at any time?
