Help w/ posting screenshots!

Can someone help me with my screenshots? I have a mac laptop. What I do to take a screenshot is shift, command, then 4. Can someone tell me if there is another way to take a screenshot on mac because it takes too long when im doing emotions. Also can someone tell me how to post or put screenshots in messeges? Whenever I try to put it in a pm or post it ends up just saying the file and it doesnt show the picture. I dont have word so I can fix that Can anyone with a mac or know how to work a mac help me?
