That stinks!

This happened to me on test with my Hollys that didnt have merits completed before the update. The response i got from Disney was that if you didnt get adjusted, then you would have to complete the merits/cogbucks for that toon. Once you have completed the merits/cogbucks, then your toons' requirement for the next promo will be the newly adjusted number. I tested this and sure enough its true. However, this does not lessen the fact that some toons were adjusted with the update and some were totally screwed! 5500 merits equates to 28 and 1/2 factory runs. To prepare for this, I made sure merits for all my Hollys on open were completed before this dreaded updated. With the new merits decreased from 531 to 194 for a full run, it'll be a long and grueling process. Personally, I divided that task into a 10 day project by trying to do 3 full runs a day. Otherwise, I probably would have quit from boredom. As others have posted... Big 5 story sells in DDL will definately yield higer than 194 merits. I was only able to find a small 5 story on test and that gave me 181 merits. Forget about doing the 4 story sells, as you'll get less than 100 merits. Good Luck and have fun! |

It's not entirely true that finishing your current merits/bucks will fix everything. I came on to find that my merits were full. I ran the vp and when I finished, I needed 2150 merits for next level (Now, i'm Hollywood 28). My friend did the same as me and when finished, she needed 1100 merits and she is a Hollywood 35.
Still have not seen a good explanation for the descrepancies. Explaining this may be like explaining our tax laws. |

There is a post in the Cog HQ forum about the merit/buck system. It appears the the merits/bucks increase up to the laff boost levels and then drop down again after the promotion that awards the laff boost therefore, At 15, you would need less merits/bucks then at 14. Again, look at the data in the Cog HQ forum.
Also, in that same thread, some people have found that they still require the old amount of merits/bucks and have sent in bug reports and next time in have found thier toons corrected to the new merit/buck system. Therefore, send in a bug report if you still show 5500 merits or 8900 bucks for promotions lower then 49/50. Also, please help put the list together there so we can have an accurate idea of promotion costs. Thanks...... Happy ToonTowning. |

Good Sell Bldng vs. Factory
Ok I did a test with the Sellbot factory run receiving 194 merits no matter what route you took.
Two Toon went into a 5 story Sellbot Building in DDL. Here are the results. floor 1 - 9.10 floor 2 - 9.9.10 floor 3 - 9.10.11.11 floor 4 - 9.9.11.11.11 floor 5 - 12.11.10.10.10.9.11.11 Total merits earned at finish was 282 merits After doing this building, I went back to Sellbot factory with only getting 88 more merits for this 5 level. To me it is not worth the effort to look for buildings and have higher level cogs, and it takes more time in a building then Factory (I can solo Factory). Hope this info helps you all. Cheers, Dlite Quote:

Hmmm...
I kind of thought that they were trying to drive us big toons out to the streets doing buildings again, making them more attractive by a big building actually awarding more merits over the factory. Only 88 though. Yeesh. So, it looks to me like instead of getting big toons back out on the streets, they're driving us back to the factory to solo. I've been soloing sellbothq too because it goes faster that way. Not that I'm antisocial, I like taking along little toons, but it does slow you down and with that many merits to do, speed counts now. Looks like all the big toons are going to disappear from sellbot since they will be soloing now...which I think a few of us have already discovered is the easiest way to go.

I'm quite sure that a 5 story with higher level cogs will yield well over 300 merits easily. Although I wouldn't spend any significant amount of time searching for 5 story sells in DDL, I would probably be willing to detour to DDL to get gags after a factory run and check Lullaby Lane for sell buildings using the radar. And if i see some rather large sellbot cogs roaming the streets, then maybe I'd run down street to check out the level of the sell buildings. I can foresee a situation where 5 story sell buildings will be few and far between in the near future as higher suited Hollys gobble them up for merits, thus leaving the toons working the Brrgggh to look elsewhere to get their minglers and recovery items from Hollywoods. This is just another catch 22 Disney has created and will have to somehow resolve once again. Quite honestly, I only see this update as helping the Holly 50 and any Hollywoods that are now required to get less than 2000 merits for their next promotion. Any Hollywood level toon that is required to get any more than 2000 merits will be required to complete more factory runs than the old system with 5500 merits. With the old system requiring 5500 merits, it took 10 full runs and a partial to complete merits. Under the new system, if you are required to get 2000 merits, you will still have to complete 10 full runs plus a short run. The key word here is "complete". No more merits for aborted runs. So, are we really getting off easier? I suppose that question will be answered soon when we finally figure out what the merit requirements are for the different Hollywood levels. |
