Lol.
Since my little one has been getting up at 530am lately that means it will be 630am now....definite psychological advantage there.

From Canadiana Connection:

Sir Sandford Fleming

"The Father of Standard Time"

Prior to standard time, the world told time by the position of the sun. Noon was when the sun was directly overhead. This method worked well for individual towns but it was not convenient for Sandford Fleming.

Fleming was the Chief Engineer of the Canadian Pacific Railway and he found the existing times chaotic for organizing trains, their arrival and departure times. Passengers would carry several pocket watches, each one labeled for a different city. Station-masters also found it inconvenient.

Fleming felt the solution to his railway woes was the adoption of a universal method of time that would work in Canada and around the world. he first publicly presented this idea while lecturing in Toronto at the Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Scientific Knowledge. He recommended 24 time zones, world wide.

As with most new and unique ideas, it was rejected by governments and scientists. Some people even felt he was interfering with nature and God, they called him a Communist! Through Fleming's explanations and tenacious attitude, official approval came and standard time went into effect on January 1st, 1885.

Fleming was born in 1827 in Scotland. Emigrated to Canada in 1845.

Designed the first Canadian postage stamp, known as the Three-Penny Beaver issued in 1851.

Was Chief engineer of the Canadian Pacific Railway while being built coast-to-coast. He oversaw the surveys of the prairies and Rocky Mountains..

While retired, Fleming devised a telegraph communications system for the British Empire.

Sandford Fleming became Sir Sandford Fleming in 1897, when he was knighted.

Greenwich England is 0 hour where all time zones start

Canada has 7 time zones, the (contiguous) USA, 4. The Soviet Union has the most at 9 time zones.

Okay...see I'm confused.

Does this mean that we get to sleep an extra hour, or one less hour?

Well, see if you wake up at 7:00AM, usually if it weren't for daylight savings time, it would be 8:00AM. So that's a good thing.

Awww c'mon, it's no biggie for anyone who's not an infant....or a mother of an infant hehe.
The tough part is putting the kids to bed that early, at least it feels early since our body clock hasn't gotten used to the idea.

When I had little babies , I found the spring forward was fine, since a mother's sanity rides on what time the baby wakes up. In the spring they wake up the same time their body tells them too, no matter what the clock says, so it's an hour later. Which means I get an hour more peace and quiet.
The fall back thing is the worst...if your baby was waking up early, as most do, like 5 am when their really small, it's then 4 am!!!

So I'm figuring our youngest, who still serves as the family alarm clock will probably wake up at 7 am tomorrow instead of the usual 6am till things sort out.
Gonna be a rush for school in the morning.
