My uncle lives in Orlando Florida, lol. He is lucky if he wants to go.

I'll probably be going to the Toonfest 2007. I'm going to wear a TTC T-Shirt.

I want to go BUT

we will need to see what they have planned.

I would normally never plan a midsummer visit to WDW its SO HOT. But I will consider it. I want to know where they have to have it. I am wondering if they are planning on after hours at Magic Kingdom as a party? That would be extremely tempting to go for. I am hoping they will give some good hotel rates too for toontown.

I thought they might move it to Disneyland. I am suprised Orlando because toontown is made in California and the who actually works for Disney Online has always been integral to making the party a success. I hope they are planning on flying as many cast from Disney Online as possible to Orlando for Toonfest East.

We may go. I will have to see what I can do for airfare but I especially want to see what the party plans are. If they are closing down MK or toontown and making it toons only that could be a real once in a lifetime bit of fun. If it is like it was in Burbank as fun as it was it is hard to see traveling so far. My birthday is the next day and I really think it would be fun.

I grew up in Florida and live in California. It would be a VERY expensive party this year.

I hope they tell us more about what the plans are.

tink

Well, I just looked at hours at WDW for August 4 and EVERYTHING seems open late. So where might they be planning toonfest?

The obvious place would be toontown. BUT....Magic Kingdom is open until 11 pm that night. I can't see mixing us in with the rest of the crowd. Epcot is open until 9, Animal Kingdom is a possibility....it closes at 8 pm but it is a hard place for me to imagine toonfest. MGM is open until 10 pm.

Any cast members who might be able to guess how Disney would handle this? I just can't see not using toontown. Doesn't toontown usually close a little earlier than the rest of the park? Maybe that is the plan, to bracelet the toons and let us in to toontown.

I am very curious.

Does anyone know how much it's likely to cost? Who went last year in California? How much did it cost then?

They may hold the toonfest in part of Downtown Disney or another place on the Disney property not normally open to guests.

It would be very convenient except for the fact that I'd have to leave on my mother's birthday. So I won't be going.

Is it my imagination or have they removed all evidence of Toonfest 2007 off the Toontown homepage?

Yes, that would be my guess too. If they held it inside one of the theme parks, that makes it a lot more expensive for a family to attend, especially on such short notice.

Possible locations that I can think of:
* the Marketplace section of Downtown Disney -- it's the most kid-friendly section of that area
* Several of the Disney resort hotels (like Coronado Springs and the Contemporary) also contain a convention center. This page has list of them, I'm guessing that it'll be one of these:

It would be a miracle if I got to go. I live across the country. Why can't TT put in the middle of the U.S, Kansas, more people would be able to go then.

I am a frequent WDW guest and I can't see a good venue not in the parks

I has at Goofy Speedway and Toonfest 2006. I think are really trying to meet the demand for Toonfest. Last year I think there were 1500 guests? It says somewhere and it sold out in about a day. MANY more people wanted to come than could and it was CROWDED at the studios.

I just can't see them holding an even BIGGER event at the resorts. Maybe downtown Disney? But how do they close it off to everyone else?

I am really curious what the plan is. To me it has always been pretty obvious to do it like "Grad Night" and do it for toons only after the rest of the park leaves. Much like Mickey's Very Merry Xmas Party is done...Magic Kingdom closes and then let in the toonfest. Now I don't know anything about the capacity making it worth running rides, but I can tell you toonfest isn't about the rides it didn't have rides. It was about meeting the other toons, meeting the devs, and a littlle carnival for the kids. I think it COULD be held in Toontown area of Disneyland or WDW and that would be the obvious best choice as they LOOK like toontown. They have a lot of props too that to use they will have to truck across the country.

Anyway, I am not commiting until I have an idea of what their plan is. Florida in August is not anyplace I would ordinarily visit, but if they are planning something really great I want to be there.

Again, I agree with the comment of short notice. I wish I worked for Disney. I could make this work so well. Why don't they hire me? They have everything they need to make it a success. They need to rotate WDW and DL each year and announce dates just like they do their other draw events, Food and Flower Festival, soap week or whatever. They need to give families a chance to plan vacations well in advance. They need to get tour packages with airfare together and hotel rates. They KNOW how to do this. It is just a matter of them getting all their talent at all these things to talk to eachother.
