Open Update -- November 14, 2003 [sv1.0.8.6]

Fishing
New fishing system and interface integrated. Here are the basics:
  • You can now catch fish in the ponds located in every playground and street in Toontown. As you fish at a pond, your new fishing bucket will fill up with the fish you catch. When your bucket is full, or if you run out of Jellybeans, you need to sell the fish to the Pet Shop Clerks located near the ponds in the Playgrounds.
  • Fish that are heavier and more rare are worth more Jellybeans. There are 50 total fish species. Some fish have particular ponds where they live, others can be found in every pond.
  • Your fishing rod can be upgraded by purchasing stronger rods sold in Clarabelle's Cattlelog. Better rods are stronger and can catch heavier fish, but cost more Jellybeans to fish with. Everytoon intially has the "twig" fishing rod.
  • Each 10 fish species you collect will earn you a fishing trophy and +1 Laff Boost, bringing the maximum Laff points up to 105. You can keep track of the fish you have seen and the trophies you have with a new page in your Shticker Book.

Other Changes
  • Fixed bug where tutorial battle would time-out and cause client crash.
  • Fixed server crash when playing Tag minigame.

woooooo! Thanks for the birthday gift, Devs!

My Mood:
I knew something was up when they wound back the SOS-help-from-NPCs function!

It is a pity they are in such a rush to release that they have not fixed up the Shtickerbook problem yet - I have not even been able to buy ANY new items for a week and a half - let alone the next fishing pole!

Edit: OK, -rcv- changed the subject of the OP to include the word "Open" after this post I made and my other post a bit farther down. Thanks!

Is this Test or Open/Production?

If it's Test, I can rest easy at work all day knowing that I'm not missing anything. If it's Production, wow, it's going to be a loooooong day...

OK, this is open/production (my first guess because no one replied - must all be fishing), and confirmed by the hubby and kids at home. What a day for them to have a teacher inservice day off!!!!!

I love it!

I have 12 species so far, I got a bucketful of fish in each playground.

But is there supposed to be a fishing pond in every street too? I ran down Punchline Place and Loopy Lane but couldn't see anything.

They've changed the rewards

Circus Clown fish was 64 or 65 beans on Test, I caught one tonight on Open that was only 22 beans

Also the Nurse Shark is now only 18, instead of the 26 that it was on Test

The biggest one I've found so far is the Shining Star Fish.. On Test it was 153 beans, I received 28 beans on Open

Yes, there is a fishing pond in every street
The Loopy Lane one is right near the beginning on the right hand side. Can't remember where Punchline is, but it is there somewhere

Yaa I just started a thread about this in the playground.
There are lineups and toons fighting to fish in the playground ponds yet the ones on the streets are empty...

There's lots of room to fish so no reason to fight, I saw toons saying Hurry Up! and You Stink!

Yes. Spinning Star Fish and Nurse Sharks seem to be more common there, actually.
