Post CCG : Uber Toon's Discussion

After comments from fellow uber toons, we decided to start a thread for posting about the weekly run and also general comments.
Also wanted to get feedback on continuing the Tues run we have done the last few weeks. We have a great group of ubers and it has been a blast! Great Teamwork and Fun the whole time!
Let me know what you think about the following time/location.

Uber Toon Run
Tuesdays at 10 EST

Run District: Giggly Point
Backup: Crazyham

PLEASE READ BEFORE JOINING THIS RUN:
Please do NOT bring your 100+ laff toon to this run. While this run is a CCG endorsed run, which means that once we load we do not jump off, it is intended to be run with an uber type toon. Uber Toons are toons who have deliberately chosen to stay at a particular laff level and develop and maxx their gags instead of their laff points. This is usually no further than the Brrrgh laff tasks. Just because you stop at 99 laff and don't take that last laff to make you 100, does NOT an Uber make There are 14 other scheduled runs for all toons. This run is not listed on the official runtime thread and is listed here as a very large majority of uber toons are CCG members. Due to the nature and difficulty of these runs we ask that less experienced players please join one of our awesome Cold Caller Guild runs.

Is your group limited to 50 and less?? If so I would have to give one of my toons a heavy workout.

Smile Well..

Yes that is what we are trying for. But we have been short toons and had a fantastic red duck who is only a little over 50 come forward to help us out. Both Toons In and Toons Out are great players as well as Awesome stunners! And both are welcome anytime

And Ratso, If you would bring Fuzzbot out to play more often and take some more laugh we could have him a uber toon in no time! I have to say I have never seen such a fearless 25 laff in the factory

For those that might still have some questions about what is the lowest possible laff to get cash suit (for toons made post uber fix), this link may help you a little.

lowest laff for cashbot suit?

Any thoughts welcome

I know this may not be the best place to ask this, but I figured the uber expertise in this thread may be able to answer my question. I'm in the planning stages for creating a super (I'd already be playing them except I want to make a black cat) and I would like to keep him as low laff as possible. What is the feasibility of a 15 laff super going through vp? I know that it would be a very tough road, but it's not impossible judging by other's successes. Other than the obvious issue with getting hit and the jb grind, what other pitfalls would I have to deal with in your opinion?

Well, the first folks to talk to would be the ones who have achieved this feat in the past--Silly Salty Monkenklunk II (15 laff), Crab E. Dawg (16 laff at the time). Here Kitty Kitty and one of the Dlite toons also made it through VP under 20 laff.

That said, I think it tells a story that three of the four toons listed above decided to give their toons just a few more laff points before continuing their VP adventures. 15-20 laff VP victories are certainly possible, but not necessarily advisable.

My personal experience is with playing VP on a 25 laffer. After 60 VP runs (all with the CCG), my 25 laffer has a 31% success rate. Therefore, I would expect that the sadualty rate in VP for a toon under 25 laff would be somewhat higher than 69%. Something to consider.

Slightly over half the time, my 25 laffer goes sad due to missed lures--which is a factor of luck, rather than skill. This can be very frustrating, because it's not something that can be compensated for by better teamwork, better strategy, or more experience.

Some "challenges" are not really so much of a challenge as you might think:

* Jellybeans: Back before beanfests, my 25 laffer had to spend a lot of time on the trolley. Nowadays, her bank is overflowing. If you take the time to show up at beanfests, you will never go hungry again.

* Going Sad: Everyone thinks that going sad is a big deal, but it is incredibly fast and easy for a toon under 30 laff to regain their laff points and restock their gags.

* Factory: Factory is much easier than it used to be, and that in turn makes it much easier for a supernoob. If you have the gags to handle factory, then your biggest challenge is going to be the goons, rather than the cogs. Be conservative, watch out in the warehouse, and when possible let someone else do the jumping ahead of you, and you'll be fine.

IMHO, the biggest challenge is dealing with unappreciative players. Some players love supernoobs and will go out of their way to help them and stick up for them. Some players just can't look beyond a toon's laff levels. You have to be prepared to deal with some ill-treatment and abuse. You also have to expect some days when you just can't find anyone to go into a building or factory with you, even when it's clear that you have maxxed gags and extensive experience. A good sense of humor is essential.

The other big challenge is that not everyone knows how to play with a supernoob on board. Even some experienced players may have trouble keeping a low laffer alive. Sometimes this can be compensated for through effective strategy and use of speedchat/SF chat. Sometimes you'll die in spite of everything. (I still remember going sad in the Center Silo because a well-meaning kid SF insisted on working his banana peels on the level 12 skelecog.)

The road is made easier by lots of friends and secret friends who appreciate what you are doing AND are able to provide constructive assistance.

All this said, I get a rush out of playing my 25 laffer which I never get with my higher laff toons. Supernoobing is frustrating and infuriating at times, but always very exciting! I wouldn't trade my 25 laffer for all the jellybeans in Toontown. Enjoy your special toon!

Yes, 15 laff is doable, but as Salty pointed out it is a little tough to win. I won three (maybe 4) times at 16 laff but I went back to the PG countless times. Oh, so many times going sad from the first 12 that comes out. I then decided it would be fun to WIN the VP instead of just GOING to the VP! This is why I finished TT task and got my sound.

Let me tell you ~ VP’ing at 25 laff is NOT much different then 16 laff. However, that first 12 does not get me anymore.

The other thought I will offer is to make sure you have your gags maxed or close to it before going. Your laff will limit you but if you can make up for it by being able to kill cogs with YOUR gags you are much better off. For example…you go to VP and have a 100+ laff and two mid laffers on your side. First round comes out a level 12, 2, 3 and 3. 100 laff lures, two mid laff throw cream pie ~ you have a cream pie. Lure miss… level 12 still there…you are back at the PG. NOW..try this ~ you have BD cake. Lure miss…BD cake and two cream pies kill level 12 …you stay to fight another round.

Have fun!

Originally we held the beanfest 15 minutes before the Uber run. Since moving it to the busy district, I'm not postive anyone changed the official time but because of the lag, I usually sign on at least 30 mintues before the run. The run, btw, is at 9:00 pm Central so that makes the beanfest from 8:30ish to 9 CENTRAL. If it's happening sooner, someone please clue me in.
The beanfest seems to have taken on a life of it's own. Maybe it has to do with time zone differences, but it seems to start around and hour earlier than the our scheduled time and end some time after 9 central.

It is easily possible to do it under 75 with the glitch fixed. I just completed hobbe's suit and he's at 75, with two additional points from fishing (daughter got bored one day), so could have done it at 73. He was forced to take a 2 laff pts task he'll be nursing for a while, at least until bossbot hq comes out - defeat 20 5 story boss buildings.

Its late, but its here

While going through my screenies I found some of last Tuesdays Uber run. I happened to think~ Hmmm...did that run get reported/posted?...Went searching and found it hadn't, so here it is. A little late but...Oh well

Oct. 25, 2005 Uber
7/7 Danced for Baker Bridget

+haley 109 HW
*Tooned In 59 HW -- F4'd to Save Merits
+Tooned Out 60 HW -- F4'd to Save Merits
*Chee Chee 48 MS
Miss Micestro 50 MNG
+Sir McRoni 55 TM
*Whutintarhoonies 44 ND

+ Together in Cog Round
* Together in Skele Round

Pretty easy run and fun!

Tooned In Alted out at begining of pie throw and Tooned out Alted out at end of pie throw. I am assuming that both of these toons were being operated at the same time by Doc. Hence the early alt out.

Need some tips

I made a black cat, who I'm making a cashbot uber, does anyone have tips about how I can do this? So far, all I have planned is get my gag track(s) to lv.4 before training for the next gag track, any suggestions?

P.S. I'll tell you the cat's name tomorrow, so people don't take it I'll edit this post when that happens

1. Don't fish unless you absolutely have to.
2. Don't take any laff that you dont need, just shop shop shop shop shop, til you can't find anything else. Finish all tasks then check again. You should only be required 9 laff per playground.

That should do it :-) Good Luck!

The laff thing should help, I know about fishing, but that's not going to be easy, in TTC you get what, 3 fishing tasks? Squeaky has 7 species caught from that (I think that's mainly because a sf almost got me to gain laff, then I changed my mind ) but anyways, do you have tips on how not to gain laff through fishing? I mean like do I wait till I have 9 species in my bucket, then turn all those in, then keep my bucket until it has 20 fish and I need more fish? Or what??

Yeah hold off turning in a bucket unless you can't fit anymore fish in it. Try only fishing in one pond, no matter what the task, unless you have to fish in the Brrrgh, which you have to get 2 ice cubes I think I remember. You have to fish again in Dreamland too, I did those fishing tasks on Pajama Place because I didn't hear of anyone catching many new species there, but that's just my opinion there.
