Uncle Remus gives her a long look, sits down on a fat log, and says, "Now Miss Fluffly, slo dow dar chil. You sits dow har on ol' Remus lap an sez what be botherin ya."
The little girl hops up on Uncle Remus' lap and says in a hurry, "Its so hard to find toons to get merits with in the factory. Its takes too long and trying to find other toons to go with just makes it even longer!"
Uncle Remus ponders a bit and then says, "Dat so?"
The little girl nods her head and sniffs. Uncle Remus ponders some more and then says, "Well now I reckons Brer Rabbit had dis har same worry not har dat long ago."
The little girl pulls a pickle from her dress to eat while Uncle Remus tells his story, "Brer Rabbit, he be runnin through dat thar factory fas as he could, askin big toons to come wit him to speeds it up, an tellin lil toons dat it be too risky. Now one day, he be waitin far too long fo other big toons to happen by, so he jus hops on da vator with o bunch o lil toons.
"Now see, dem thar big toons knows how to get through dat thar factory lickity split seein hows dey knows whats dey be doin. But da lil toons, dey not so sho. First off, dey not sho why Brer Rabbit be takin dem along and dey worry he goin ta make dem go sad. But Brer Rabbit he jus wanna finish he merits.
"'Let's go! Piece of cake!' sez Brer Rabbit sez he. By and by da lil toons follows Brer Rabbit up to da cogs tho dey be scared.
"'Please be my friend! Can you help me?' sez Brer Rabbit sez he. Now dis confounds dem lil toons havin a big toon so as Brer Rabbit askin dem ratha da otha way. Brer Rabbit, he den spreads some pixie dust an does a dance fo da lil toons. Now dis has dem lil toons wonderin if Brer Rabbit be in he right mine. But Brer Rabbit he sez, 'Yes!' to any of dem lil toons dat asks to be he friend.
"'Let's go battle the cogs! Follow me!' sez Brer Rabbit sez he. Now dem lil toons still ain't rightly sho what dat crazy bunny be up to, but dey follows him anyhow. Brer Rabbit, he pull out he big magnets and he lets da lil toons thro dey pies. If he sees dey wanna use dar whistles, he jus plays a tune on he fog horn.
"By and by dis har lil toons be so happy dis big crazy toon takin dem in da factory dat dey follows him wharever he go. When dey get a lil lost, Brer Rabbit he goes an fetches em. If dey sez dey jus wanna go to da warehouse firs, Brer Rabbit, he sez, 'Ok! Follow me!' but den Brer Rabbit he goes da long way anyhows.
"Now when dey finally gets on dem silos, Brer Rabbit tells da lil toons jus what ta do. 'Wait here.' sez Brer Rabbit he sez so as he can use he goggles heself an not risk da lil toons goin sad. If dey follows Brer Rabbit anyhow, den he sez, 'You should pass.' o 'Let's use throw.' an 'Let's work together.' tryin his darnest to blow ups dem cogs. Now da lil toons dat ain't listen, dey gets demselfs sad right quick. Da lil toons dat listen, dey gets to dance with Brer Rabbit in dat control room.
"When it be all over, Brer Rabbit he asks he new lil friends if dey needs help wit thar tasks. Most time dey just wanna run through dat ho factory agin with Brer Rabbit to helps him wit he merits seeins how fun an citing it be."
Looking flustered the little girl asks, "Uncle Remus, why does Brer Rabbit risk letting those lil toons go sad? And doesn't it take a lot longer if he has to work with lil toons?"
Uncle Remus replies, "Well Miss Fluffy, it be da same har reason you hears me singin to mysel or tellin stories when I sho be choppin dat firewood. I maybe be choppin a bit slower, but I sho be passin da time mo joyable wit a song or a story."
