Another speedchat question

I had a long time non-secret friend I recently took to a CCG run. He and I had played together for at least 6 months; we helped each other max gags, etc. For whatever reason we had never gotten to be secret friends. He is an excellent team player, and I had taken him on CCG runs before, where he did great and we had a lot of fun. We had always been fortunate enough to get onto the same elevator before, so I wasn't prepared for the possibility that we wouldn't, but that's what happened at the last run we went to together. I got on the elevator, he did not. I believe and practice 100% the no elevator jumping rule, so I stayed on and left without him. I whispered "Sorry!" "Let's catch the next one," "Good Luck!" and "You are awesome!" as we were leaving. While in the first battle, he whispered "Bye!" to me, then left my friends' list. I am not sorry I stayed on the elevator, but it is upsetting that I lost such a long time friend. He obviously doesn't know about CCG (I can't find him on the list) so he probably thought I was just being mean staying on the elevator without him. I have seen him around since and I whisper "Hi" but he won't talk to me.

My question is, how do you explain, through speedchat, that you can't jump off the elevator at a CCG run? Or is losing a friend who doesn't understand just a risk you take in taking a non-CCG friend to a CCG run?

Boy that is a tough one. I can't think of any way to convey that jumping off the elevator is something we don't do, using speed chat. I think you did everything you could, and they are the one who lost the most in this deal. You apparently had been trying to help through your association with the CCG, and it cost you. I'm guessing it cost the toon in question even more....

You could try the old "lets be friend" "this way" and then type gibberish, and then say "use the speedchat" and it works, then you can try to pass them a SF code using a combo of speedchat phrases and jumps. I did this many times before I found my current network of SFs.

another possibility is to post a "looking for SFs of ______ " message here on the board. He/she may not be a member, but someone here might be their SF and could pass along a message to them for you.

Sorry that the CCG #1 rule caused the problem!

Tough one

That is a tough one. I don't know of any thing you could say that wasn't said. I have had friends that has happened with and sometimes they understand and sometimes they don't. If he is really a good friend I think there is a place on the main page that says something about looking for lost friends. Maybe you could post there and find them or someone that knows them to be able to explain. I hope that may help. By the way, I enjoyed playing with you and your hubby last night in the middle six. I was with Donna (Dinky).

Interesting! Can you give some more details on how you did this? I've been in a similar situation where a non-sf long term friend has taken things the wrong way, and I'd like to make an attempt at getting them to be a SF.

I recently had a non-SF follow me to the CCG VP pit and I was very worried about us being split up and him maybe getting his feelings hurt. As it happened, we were seperated, me going in first. He whispered, "No problem." "Good Luck!" I whispered back, "Let's go fight the V.P.!" "Don't wait for me." "Have fun!" A short while later he whispered back a smile and a "We did it!" It turned out well for us even though he clearly did not know what the CCG was.
