CCG Reminder: Pack The Elevator!

Hi Everyone...

It has come to my attention that we are having some difficulties in loading the elevator primarily for the VP. Though our packing on guideline applies to all boss battles, the VP is where the small suits and less experienced NEED OUR HELP! There are way too many big suits and good players for the first loads to go off the way they are. This is not the group I fell in love with. I don't know, it just seems so bad lately, much worse than in than in the past. Really just miss the good ol days I guess, cause what is going on now, is not what it used to be.

Please pack the elevators!

I couldn't have said it any better myself. There are way too many big suits that hang back assuming the other one will load. Theres a saying, Don't assume....well we all know where that will lead. Come on folks just get on and have fun.

At a CFO the other day I noticed that none of the large Robber Baron suits would budge to enter the elevator. Because of this, the smaller suits wouldn't go in with those others willing to go in. I was a bit upset by the poor sportsmanship of these players. I realized afterword that these people are members here and I was sad to know who they were. I unfortunately disconnected after a little bit of extreme shuffling. I hope the Robber Barons finally went in with all those other toons.

This is a good reminder for the CCG, I've noticed the same things. The CCG encourages everyone to come along. In the rules it even tells you to pack in the elevators.

I couldn't agree more...If we try a little REVERSE thinking, have some HWs push on FIRST, it will all be the same in the end.

As a CC myself, I look to the HW's to lead, not follow. That may not be fair, but what confidence do I have boarding with a group, the most experienced of which is a Telemarketer? Of course people will jump off the vator when the rush has filled it up with a group doomed to fail!

Personally, I don't really see an excuse for the last elevator to have only 4 HW 50's in it. They should have been in elevators long ago. I understand the "stand back and look for an emergency" approach, and maybe one or two HW's can be pre-designated for this duty. The rest of y'all tall-suit-types need to be leading the charge, not trailing behind it.

Please?

I always enter the first or second elevator if I get there in time (on Obsidian, Candy, or Twiddlespeed). That applies to both VP and CFO. It puts the little guys at ease....

Even if you are a HW50 or RB50 - please go ahead and get on - we need you!

I don't know if some things I have said elsewhere has been misunderstood or not. Really, it's my opinion and I AM ENTITLED to it. My opinion has not attacked the CCG nor anyone in particular so that shouldn't be an issue. I will pack when necessary. Many times, I have charged and been shuffled off to the side and under the steps. No biggie. If I am not ready to board yet, I am at the bottom of the steps. That's where I WILL stay if by chance I have something going on in RL or whatever else. Sometimes, I really don't feel like going. I just show up in case there are ACTUALLY leftovers. That is MY CHOICE and I don't feel like I should be persecuted if I choose to stand back. I only have two toons out of 12 that need VP promos at the moment and if they aren't ready, then I don't need to VP. I am just there as an extra if there are leftovers or to pack on. I've packed on many times when I didn't feel like going. Just because I am a Holly, and I see other Holly's on the vator, but I also see that there are for example two toons in need of a promo...I'm going to do everything I can to get one of them to board. If they don't, off I go. I have one eye on the clock, one hand over my up arrow and the other hand speedchatting trying to encourage them to not wait for me Same with the CJ. I don't need to go and am tickled to death when I don't have to go. When I am READY, I will proceed. Many many times I have tried to get someone to board before me and we know why...because they deserve a promo. Like I said though, if you snooze you lose. I'll pack on. Personally, I do like to let a few loads go off because of all those "big suits" that love to block the timer and the vator. I try to post a snapshot of those instances when it doesn't show that toons name or it shows the infamous "sorry I'm helping a friend". Those instances are when I packed on early. I don't care for it. Perhaps when I see people stop blocking, I'll go off on the first load again. I've done it before and I'm not shy. I tend to take things personal and if you see that I AM not following CCG guidelines then I expect you to tell me personally. This really irks me to see this thread when it is discussed in so many others. (Nothing against you or anyone else Scout, you know I love ya!)

Another thing, lately since test released boss hq, the appearances of any Ambassadors/Mods at the scheduled runs has been sporadic to say the least. Not knocking anyone. Everyone has priorities in RL too. I can think of one Ambassador that I have seen more of than any others whereas usually they're all there at each and every run. Maybe if they took runset shifts or something for the runs, things might go a bit smoother with the shuffling and packing. If you think about it, shuffling has been really bad since that horrible release on test.

And lastly, there has been one instance for example when a special run was set up 30 minutes after a scheduled VP and 15 minutes before a CFO and it took many people away from both of these regularly scheduled runs. I recall just the other day where 2 CFO vators took off and both came back sad. Whether it was inexperience, experience or whatever...the place was a ghost town because there were like 4-5 vators full at a non regularly scheduled run in the middle of 2 scheduled runs. It's all good that we want to help a young child through their first VP or CFO, but look at how it took away from the scheduled runs when this very well could have taken place during a regularly scheduled run. It took away WAY TOO MANY helpful people that could have been helping elsewhere at a posted scheduled regular scheduled run.

Just my two cents.

I already posted this suggestion in the other thread, but how would it be to have the bigger suits "line up" on either side of the elevator? In both the VP and CFO, you can see inside the elevator by standing off to the side and you are not in the way of the timer or of people seeing how many are loaded on. This would make it easy to balance the loads and there would be no question of who was next (whoever is up front, pushes on as needed). It would also be easy to see who's packing on and who's not. This would also solve the problem of randoms because you have a definite line of CCG members right there with the sole purpose of packing on.

Only problem with each bigger suit standing off to the side (as you can see in one of Alvin's screenies) is there is not enough room for everyone. It gets quite crowded up there. My ND toon can't see a single thing when on the platform for all the toons everywhere. I've tried shifting angles every which way and can be standing right up front off to the side only to see the back side of many toons. I can't tell if the vator is boarding, packed, or what. Something that would be nice for Disney to supply would be a counter as to how many toons are actually on board somewhere off to the side, but we know that will never happen.

Just out of curiousity... what were the numbers for active CCG members in 2004 vs. 2008? I'm sure in the good 'ole days, the shuffle and packing weren't that bad because TT had not grown to what it has today. So has the CCG. It has grown, I would imagine, into something that the founding members never expected it would be what it is today.

I Agree With Miss Flipperfoot Totally

I too am only stating my opinion its your choice to agree or disagree. Anyone who knows me knows I always try to pack the vators and help smaller toons and ubers get that dance I just love it but I also have be singled out in screenies as not loading........well if I am asked by a smaller toon for help in the pit or on the porch I will do all I can to load with them or see that they load with some experienced players to help get their dance. Often I will hang back on steps or down on floor in order to stay with a small toon who is reluctant to load and wants me with them I try to do what I think is right at the time and with the crowds at some runs its difficult to look at everyones laff and even know an uber is going on a short load.......doesnt say uber over your head u know.......most I know are very good experienced players anyway and have ways of handling most situations and they go for it knowing it might not pan out or they too ask for help from more experienced toons that just more than likely have sos cards or unites to give an extra boost if they happen to be in a slump and need an extra bit of help.

I too was saddened Dawn when reading the reports from the cfo's the other day and the vators coming out sad....I went on a cfo run at that time also and noticed how few toons were there....somehow u and I ended up on same vator and we got through ours but I stayed in pg after and saw plenty of sads but not enough around to help even think about a revenge run for these toons........mostly small in suit size and laff but I am sure all played their hearts out.

Ok here is where I am sticking my neck out been thinking about this ever since boss was released on test much like I think you have Dawn from your post. We need experienced toons at all ccg runs if for nothing more than support. Newer and smaller toons see you and feel better just knowing you are there and many know if for some reason their run goes south on them you will be around for revenge or to load with them. Many names are missing lately I understand testing boss is important and needs to be played so the bugs can all be worked out but not when we have regular ccg runs I also agree that in shifts we could see more of you at our normal run times. And please anyone having a child wanting help yes the ccg totally rocks with small new toons but not when we have other runs on the schedule if u must request special time please keep schedule in mind of other runs. I saw the ss of the vp from the other day............only 8 can go on the vator would have been nice if some would have then left the pit area and joined the cfo run that was in great need also and was attended by alot of small toons that only needed a little help also.

Not pointing fingers just letting you know how it looked from being at cfo then and reading the posts I might be wrong but its how I feel.

One more thing for Alvin in the middle of your ss notice on some it says "Hop Off" top center of vator.. you were on but who knows if its full or not from the angle u see........true you dont know until doors close.........love ya!!

First Run: Feb 20, 2004: 0/7 danced
Second Run: Feb 25, 2004: 0/8 danced
Third Run: March 2, 2004: 7/8 danced
And we never looked back....

Want a walk down memory lane? Cold Callers Unite

Or an even longer walk?
Cold Callers Guild

As far as the numbers go, 7 went on that first run - I would guess about 10-12 had offically joined by the first sucessful run. It wasn't long before AJ added the fact that those with little suits had first dibs on the elevator over those with a bigger suit and it wasn't long after that that we ran enough toons that it didn't matter - when you load 10 runs at a time, chances of a cold caller getting left behind was slim.

There was some organization attempted at the beginning. I remember Zman would stand back and whisper to established stunners "Let's Go" and the stunners would load along with toons around them. Often established stunners would select 2-4 toons with a whisper of "Follow Me" before they loaded the elevator. But once there got to be 30-50 toons in the lobby, all ability to organize went out the window. Established stunners would try and assess a load and get on where needed, but it wasn't long before even that wasn't possible as the lobby filled. Usually we would just head to the top and try and load before the Cold Callers all filled up the first few elevators.

Things have not changed that much since then. Cold Callers are eager to actually ride to the VP so they tend to load early, then seeing that there are nothing but short suits, they tend to jump, often times not realizing that the short suits they are standing with could be Holly's in hiding. Randoms still find us and not realizing what the heck is going on, shuffle or fearing the shuffle, jump at the last moment.

In many ways, it is much easier to win the VP now than it was then. When Sellbot first came out - the cog round had levels like the skelecog does now, the skelecogs were 10-12s and there were many more of them. Heck even the factory was a lot harder (11 boss, with nothing smaller than a 6 and the goonies hit for 20).

The best thing about those early CCG runs, was the fact we *fought* to get on the elevator with cold callers. Many of the established stunners would private chat with each other, haggling over who would get to take that CC1 (that no one knew) into the elevator.

So I offer a challenge to the CCG of today:
How many Cold Callers can you see to the dance this week?

When I went to a recent CCG VP run, I wandered into the lobby, ready to fight the VP. As I walked to the top of the steps, I noticed that a load was about to go. I rushed onto the load, and we had 7 toons. I guess I wasn't looking, but we suddenly had 8!

Thanks Scout for the friendly reminder.

I just went to the 6 pm vp and although there was some shuffling etc, what do you expect? When I logged on tonight I landed in the VP district. It has been suggested to move the district and everyone basically said no, it goes against the principle of helping lower suits even randoms. So I am sure some of the toons in there have no idea about the ccg, or the rules etc.

Even as our load went off (I believe I was the only Holly) one toon stunk us for leaving without him. We were one of the first loads to leave I believe.

My point is, if no one wishes to switch districts, why complain? If they shuffle off, someone else is usually there to shuffle on, or we leave without them, simple. Can't really have it both ways right?
