Looking for advice or help on how to level up Lure, Toon-Up & Sound
Hello,
My toon Leroy McScreech, who is 94 laff is finding it very slow to level up lure, toon-up and sound gags. I would really like to get them higher so I can feel like I am making more contribution to the VP & CFO runs that I go on with CCG ![]() My current levels are: Toon-Up: Bamboo Cane (950 to next) Lure: 5$ Bill (280 to next) Sound: Elephant (1500 to next) Throw: Maxed Squirt: Maxed Drop: Anvil Any advice or help on how to level these more efficiently would be appreciated. I am online most days between 12pm and 5pm Pacific and more at the weekend. Leroy McScreech |

Hi there!
I was on a run with you today ![]() I will add a few gag working tips.. The Sellbot factory is a nice, usually easy way to acquire sound points without much hassle. Going for the strongest cog here also works nicely. Also use your biggest sound gags early on the run and hit the Lava room for sound gagup barrel. Buildings Here is where your gag points really rack up! Tall buildings are harder to find in the invasion districts, so more power to ya if you can find a good tall one, with toons available to help. It really helps if you are friends with the toons and can communicate the following method. Do what you have to do to get to the top floor...Here is where you wanna really camp for points. Once you are presented with the cog line up, you can begin by using a lower type level gag (up to level 5 usually, depending on the size of the cog) Now lure the cog back in, next you wake the cog beside him, next round, lure that one back, then wake the next, lure. Then you can use your biggest gag, (for example a level 6 to take the cog out). Hope that helps! Good Luck! Scout

Lure and Drop are really easy to level up IF you have a maxed toon working with you.
I find if I rotate lure it works more often. In other words, use a magnet and then a bill. And if you have someone to lure with you, use "like" lures, in other words, if they are using a bill, you use a bill. Often I have better luck with the pink magnet/goggles combo than both mags. Drop works better if you stack them. In other words, if your friend is dropping a safe, you drop a 45 lb weight, etc. I have awesome success with drop in the factory...even w/o a partner (I think, but it's been a long LONG time since I trained a new drop). But, one place you should NOT work your gags is the boss cog fights. While the skelecog round of the VP will give 3x experience, it is NOT worth the peril and/or frustration you will cause your fellow teammates. Use appropriate gags in the boss cog fights. Train gags in buildings or boss plants...preferrably with friends. Cuz...lemme tell ya, some toons just wanna get 'er done! |

Toon Up Points
As for toonup points, take a friend (who knows your plan) into a 4 or 5 story building in Nutty River.
Make sure you enter the top floor while an invasion is going on. Don't worry if the invasion ends once you start fighting the cogs up there. If you enter a floor with an invasion, you get double experience points for the entire floor even if the invasion ends; conversely, if you enter the floor when an invasion hasn't started, you do not get double experience points even if an invasion starts. Destroy all the cogs except one or two, then just let them hit you and your friend...tooning each other up after each hit. If they miss, just pass so the cogs have a chance to hit you again. Make sure you save all your big tu's for the top in order to get the most points. Do this until one of you runs out of tu gags or until your experience says "None" in red. You will almost always get the 200 point maximum when you do this. As for sound and lure, training them together along with tu works great in buildings in River, too. It helps to have someone with you who has maxed or or organic lure (I always plant lure while I'm training it) and who can help keep you tooned. Save these gags for the top 2 (or 3) floors. Lure, then sound using a smaller gag, lure again, toon up, then sound again...repeating this until the cog has had enough and explodes. Luring the cogs first not only gives you lure points, but also ensures your sound hits every time. Again, save all your biggest gags for the very top floor in order to maximize your experience. In a good building where the invasion is for bigger cogs and they come out one or two at a time rather than being all out at once as you enter the floor, you can get really big experience numbers. One last piece of advice: Invasions in River only last about 6 to 9 minutes. Write down when they start and keep track. If you think an invasion is about to end, keep a cog lured on the floor you are on and wait out the next invasion by letting the time run out (don't pass). Good luck!

Hello,
Thank you all for replying, I will try and follow what has been said ![]() Unfortunatly I don't have any friends ingame with maxed gags, so I am putting some TF codes here if anyone wants to help me at all. Thanks again, Leroy McScreech Last edited by Deputy Monty; 01-07-2008 at 10:06 PM. Reason: deleted codes |

Secrets are supposed to be kept to the secret swapping forum, so don't be surprised if they vanish the next time a mod/admin comes through.
![]() A little advice for you if you decide to train your drop gags. Flower pots, sandbags, and anvils are notorious for missing. Once you get to level four though, they often hit even if nobody else hits the Cog first. Use your low level drops on Cogs already targeted by a big one. It'll be a lot more likely to hit. ![]() The best way I've found to get sound points is to find two or three 100 laff randoms and do a factory run. I hate how much they use sound when they're in a rush... But I suppose it wouldn't be problem for you since you actually have sound. ![]() I've never tried working lure in buildings, but I know that an organic small magnet works exceptionally well on just about any Cog in the factory below level 6. A fun way to work on it is to go in factories with (annoying ) sound users. If their sound gags will take out the Cogs, use a lure gag. They'll take out the Cogs anyway, so may as well get something out of it. ![]() For Toon-up... I've never tried working it at all. I found out early on that lipstick and dancing canes work just fine in most cases. Even going through CJ runs, I rarely use any Toon-up gags above level four. If it were me, I wouldn't be too worried about it unless you intend to be going through DA offices soon. If you really want to work on Toon-up, QueenFluffyGiggletoes' idea looks like a very good one to me.

Once you get to a 45 lb weight, it's not quite so painful. I remember a task for micro managers in TB and I dropped 45 lb weights on most of them. |

I've got a lot of toons with drop, I kinda like it. the easiest way to level it up is have someone go with you into a buch of 3 or 4 story buildings with a lot of little squirt or sound gags. Drop is way more accurate if squirt or sound is used right before it. That being said, a flower pot or sand bag still isn't going to hit very many level 8's no matter what hits them first. Best to look for your buildings in Donald's Dock until you have your anvil.
Has anyone mentioned that lure works better in the presence of trap?

Drop training: Often toons working tasks fall behind on their squirt. Either bring one of them along or someone working sound. They're great to pair up with for drop training. Consider doing buildings and work the drop on the top floor with them. This beats a factory when it comes to gag value. You'll be working TU too! For solo training, note the gag tends to miss less when you pick quickly instead of linger. In my experience the drop tends to miss the least in Sellbot Courtyard.
Sound: Running factories with your friends is the best way. The other way is to solo a 4 level bldg and save a cog on the top floor to torture once the others are defeated. If your friend is working tu or lure, they can do those while you sound the biggest cog. With a friend you should try a 5 lvl bldg, where the top floor is 3x gag value or 6x during an invasion. Lure - Solo working: START SMALL!!! Go back to your roots when you get the gag and hit level 1s in TTC so the gag misses less. You can $1 a level 4 micromanager till the cows come home, but in the same time and for the same beans you can get more points on a quiet TTC street. Once you get the barbie, focus on luring 1s and 2s with your $1, which has jumped in strength. In truth until you get $5 the lures are desperately bad. As mentioned, alternating lure with sound is a great way to go, giving yourself an opportunity to work sound up and get the least damage from cog retaliation. Also it's fun to watch the cogs - especially when the Yesman winces. LOL Lure group work: START SMALL!!! lol that's right. When working with a trapper, a new $1 might take on a level 2 with a banana peel, but it's not likely to take on a trapdoor for a lvl 5 cog (as much as trap can help a lure, trap can also make the lure fail if it's too "heavy"). When you have bad new lure, avoid buildings and stick to the streets. Once you get barbie and can stock lots of both lure gags, you and your friend can harass lvl 2 and 3 cogs on adjacent TTC streets (Alto, Elm, Barnacle) with rakes and peels and avoid the trialers from interfering. Eventually you two will be doing several turns on the same cog, sometimes new cogs coming over. The results will be nice by the time you dance. It's a lot more fun too. Once you have $5 you can take on bigger traps and cogs and work in 1-2 level bldgs. By 1000 on blue magnet the 3-level buildings should be doable. And of course you two can work the occasional TU in when you get below a comfortable level.

All great points...though I still believe that camping in buildings is the best way to earn the fastest gag credits...Everyone should check out this thread... Gag Camp by Loosy Goosy I've worked many toons traps and lures, but I've never had this experience enough to see a trend as you state. Interesting observation, however.

top floor of 4/5 story bldgs
Quote:
On sound - use your lvl5 elephants on a group of tens in the dollar mint or DA office. The dollar mint gives you 2 1/2 times bonus on your gags and it takes 3 blasts of elephants to rid lvl10's. Use TU and lure to ensure your laff. have a friend load up on small trap, bananas/rakes and go to the top floor again on large bldgs and work your lure on them until their gone. ( DD and MM are good places for medium size cogs in bldgs, to ensure those size gags work better - use your singular lures on the cogs and you get TU bonus points also) Lion Heart

Lure/sound/drop...lure/sound/drop...over and over and over....best in a 4 or 5 story in the neighborhood that has that level gags...move up as you move up to the next level gag.
Take a friend to help and make sure you have tuneup! Drop was hard for me...everyone told me you had to have someone hit the cog first with pie/sound/squirt. Absolutely not necessary. The more you use it the better it works. When you start you will miss 9 out of 10 times. Keep going. Eventually you will get to 1 out of 3 times. If I run into a cog accidentally I just drop on him and keep running...usually NO damage. It is human nature...when a gag fails...you don't want to use it again. Don't go there! Use it over and over and over. Drop rocks!

My advice with TU is that don't try to train that one up...because someone will need healing and you can do it to them in VP. If you need to however, find friends that will fact. with you.
Sound is easy to train by yourself...best way is instead of facts. or mints, you can just use alot of sound and train your merits slowly. Lure...find someone with low trap and train together. Not much advice other than general find bldgs. and train in facts. |
