Merits/Cogbucks/Jury Notices - How DO you DO it!?

You guys in the CCG are great. Without you, there's no way I would ever have gotten as far as I have with my Sellbot (Mingler Lvl 9), Cashbot (Loan Shark Lvl 11) and Lawbot (Backstabber Lvl 7) suits.

But, how on earth do you manage to get all those Merits/Cogbucks/Jury Notices together so quick between runs!?

Here I was thinking I might get to my Robber Baron suit before I have to go back to the daily grind post-Christmas break, and after spending a good few hours doing Dollar/Bullion Mint runs I'm not even half way through the 5500 Cogbucks I require to progress.. Furthermore, I've struggled working with random toons who, in some cases, don't exactly work well as a team!

What's the secret? I know the invasions help, but I can rarely get into Nutty River, and rarely have more than 1 invasion reward I can launch myself from my CJ runs. If I have to struggle on like this, I have a feeling I'll be giving up long before I get my next laff point boost

Any advice gratefully received

The Toon Named Rivn...

PS. Hope I'm posting in the right place - quite new to these forums

Just hang in there! Don't think you have to have everything done before the next run. A lot of times, I'll only need one factory or one bullion and I can go again. It's those times I can make it to the next run.

Othertimes, though, I need 14k jury notices, 5500 merits or 8900 cogbucks and it takes me several days before I can go again. (or I stay up half the night like I did last night - I don't recommend it!)

One thing I like to do with merits is to go in the side door of the factory, instead of the front. I go straight ahead and defeat both sides of the pipe room and then straight out and left, on up to the warehouse and then finally, the silos. This run takes about 10-12 minutes and I get 520 merits out of it. (as long as there is an invasion) I can complete 5500 merits in 2 and a half hours, so I think this is a super fast way to get them! One other nice nice thing about going this way, is that the factory takes about the time an invasion does, so it's easy to keep track of them.

Hang in there and try to go with friends, that is always easier. When you get frustrated, be sure to take a little break. I know sometimes I'm just not in the mood to face that stinky bullion, for sure.

Yep, it is fun racing through the suits until you get to the major merits, bux, and notices. My poor Goliath was stuck on 14400 for a while. (He is actually about to be stuck on them again, poor monkey). The short factory, as Little Fancy Pedalwhip described, is something that I wish I had known about when I maxed my first toon (before invasion district at that!). It really makes them go quickly. Goliath soloed factories. Take breaks when you get to the major work so that you don't get burned out. You will hopefully find some friends working on them at the same time, so you will have some help. Friends make them go a lot faster, too. Good luck!

one thing to consider is seeing if a couple of people who are maxxed and have full sticker books will sf with you. They may not want to go on yet another DA with you (I'm still smarting from doing about 130 DA Ds, 100 Bullions and over 75 factories in October ) but if you yell, they will often jump to whatever district you are in and give you an invasion. It simply isn't worth doing a DA D without an invasion. in my opinion.

Additionally, I personally would never use an invasion on a factory or mint - they dont' take that long to do, relative to the DA D. Hoard any invasions you get in your lower law suits - you don't need to use them then. If you never use a single thing in your sticker book until you get to BW 12, you should have at least 6-8 invasions at that point. Remember, while getting invasions is random for your CJ wins, the more buttons you have filled in your book, the more likely the next one you get will be an invasion.

Finally, you want to hunt around for a few friends who are in the same situation as you - likely one of you can get into NR. If your SF is in a fac/mint/DA, wait until they get out - fish or something - don't bother with doing a fac/mint/DA unless there is a great chance you will have that invasion. Doing twice as many simply makes it beyond mind-numbing....

I'm back to factories with my current "working" toon (Bacon Bitz) (and my uber Super DAd of course) - so I may see you soon!

I dont find it hard getting merits and cogbucks but jns take forever because I only need a small amount but end up going through DA D because no-one will go through DA A. DA Ds take forever. I would go in buildings but there's always invasions and if I swap district I might not be able to get back.

Mmmm, Melody just got back to 5500 merits needed (and I had that TWO VP's ago, what's up with that) but I can usually wait around long enough to get in river, and sometimes have a friend there. Also, what I do is if there is a lawbot invasion I will go run a daisy gardens building really quick and then go back to doing merits. Anything to avoid the DA. But I don't need that many jury notices yet (I'm at like 200 still) so it's easy right now. Soon, though....

I hate getting cogbucks......

River Access

If you are on xd, pm codes to other CCG members. This will increase your chances of getting a ride to the river. Very often people will park a toon in the river to allow friends access. The more friends you have the better your chances. I am always willing to offer rides.

Thanks for your good advice, especially on the Sellbot factory!

I did a few Sellbot factories using your method last night. Works for me! It’s certainly good if you want it over with quickly. My normal approach is to solo the whole joint (all 35 cogs). This was fun when it was new and more challenging, but just recently I’ve started diving in with small random toons to help them get their suits, which spices up the “unknown” factor a bit to increase the challenge

Hi! It’s you! Hedwig! You rock!
I really enjoyed that VP we were in the other night – you make me laugh!

Very good advice about taking a break every now and then. It soon ceases being fun if you just feel like you’re all work and no play I know this only too well, ‘cause this is how I feel about my real life job!

Good advice, thanks... And, how many DA Ds!?

I struggle a bit with the friends thing (normal friends mostly – only have 1 SF who isn’t a family member ), as under normal circumstances (outside of the Christmas vacation) I find people don’t really understand just how little time I get to play the game. I’m an adult with kids and a full-time job, so getting the time to play is rough sometimes. I’d probably feel bad taking up a space on someone’s friends list when I’m only ever on for such a short space of time.

I know what you mean. My Lawbot suit is way behind on my Sellbot and Cashbot suit levels. Right now, I don’t see myself sticking with it long enough to max Lawbots, especially given how hard it seems to be rounding up a group for doing a DA of any type. At the moment, I just stick to buildings – solo mostly, but to say I’m only at Back Stabber, it’s impossible to imagine ever getting anywhere like this long-term

Hee Hee - your comment about 130 DA Ds in October - yeah, I hadn't started my BW suits until the first of October, and I had vowed to triple max on October 31st - so I did DA Ds until my head spun...like you, I actually do have a job and kids - so I would sometimes run two toons late at night with folks who play in Australia, or in the early morning with people in the UK. And I had a friend who had a TP toon parked in NR night and day to help me out..without which I could not have made it. But I did and Obsidian maxxed on his Halloween birthday...

It takes approximately 130-135 DA Ds, plus a few As, Bs, to make it through all of your BW suits. Ouch!

Have fun!

-try like anything to get into nutty river, to ensure back to back cog invasions
-use sound
-in factory, got to every room
-in cash and law, go to the biggest fight (bullion mint, elevator d)
-keep track of the current cog invasion....if one is not going on, do NOT START THE LAST FIGHT!!! wait until the next cog invasion starts, THEN start the last fight! (factoy foreman, etc)

Doing a bigger fight means you get more xp
doing this during an invasion doubles that xp
using sound makes it go faster (plus you will get the bonus sound gag so often, you will be bored by it ! lol)

Now, nothing personal against smaller toons, but doing a factoy ten times can get tedious and its worse if it is reallly slowed down by a lil toon who doesnt want to go to all the rooms, and u hafta toon em up every turn....
so that is the main reason big toons will avoid lil toons

if you are worried about karma, maybe do a few extra runs with the intention of escorting some 40 level toons thru, they will all love you to pieces over it!

Everyone gave you really good advice. My strategy for my JNs is to have a certain mouse and I won't mention any names push and push and push me LOL. One time i had 14,400 and it took me a month to get them. Now it only takes a me a week Good friends are a must in that place!! Also running 2 toons at once helps alot too. Good luck!!

That lp level has two 5500 merit rounds in it, before you get the lp.

All the rest have only one.

Hmm - I thought we agreed not to mention that ever again...lol...I will never, ever forget TPing out....I honestly just sat at the computer for 3 minutes with my mouth hanging open....

I haven't accidentally clicked on the Cattalog icon in a boss battle in a long time either, so I'm due....

And for heaven's sake, please don't say "Can you help me?" when I'm in a mint...I have an overwhelming urge to simply TP to you....leaving the other toons banging their heads against the wall in wonder....

ahh, as the mind slips away......

G'nite!

As this is your first toon, I would recommend concentrating on one HQ at a time! First of all, you won't get so frustrated getting all the big merits, buxs and jn at the same time!

Secondly, when you max, you can do the regular CCG runs for that HQ anytime you want! The more you go, the faster you will master that particular boss battle, which will make you feel great! Plus, you will become more familiar with toons who are at the same level as you, and probably make friends with them as well. This will help you as you move along to the next HQ, as you have built up that circle of friends who will help you with your runs, especially as you hit those laff boost levels.

And thirdly, this also allows you to build up sos cards or unites or invasions to use later on the other two HQs as you run those up.

As this is your first toon, you might choose between Sell and Cash as your first concentration, and leave Law until you have more experience. DA's are by far the most boring runs when you have the big notices, but having friends to chat with makes it 100% more fun! You might seriously consider Cash first, as the unites are a bit more useful than the sos cards in my opinion. Addionally, you can attend marathons, which are tons of fun!

I like soloing partial factories, or doing the side door route with one other player. My favorite run is a little different, but equally as effective: Duct room (horn/elephant), one set in the pipe room (h/e), turn right, boiler room (lure/pie; pie/pie), down the steps and straight to the gear room (elephant/fog), out to the warehouse (e/f)and then up to the silos (e/f, e/f, e/e) It give a perfect 600 merits, which I find useful for figuring the number of runs I have to make. And it uses all the fogs two maxxed sound toons have, which is helpful if you have used your opera on the boss run. You can omit the gear room for a total of 528 merits, in which case you use e/f there instead.

Have fun!
