Can it really be so?

The CCG is a great group, but for the first time ever, I had a really bad experience with them. I don't like to say it, but it actually happened!

I went to one of the meeting spots, and around the scheduled time we went to go fight the VP. When we started to load (it was a few minutes before the schedule), there was a LOT of shuffling going on. I thought it was just a few toons, but I guess it was more. We got a group of 8 toons, and we were doing fine during the first round. In the skelecog round, two of the toons in my group started to constanly be "delayed". I'm not sure if this was on purpose or not. We started to be in huge trouble, so one of the toons suggested we use sound. He was a very high level toon, so I expected he was going to use the opera voice. He used a foghorn (still pretty good, but we were up against level 11 and 12 skelecogs), and I used my elephant trunk (that's my best). One toon in our group used an aoogah, and the last toon used...nothing? Once again, the same toon didn't do anything on their turn. I knew we weren't going to do anything with the sound gags that we were going to use, so I switched to my bamboo cane to help out the otehr players (our laff was really low). The aoogah toon switched to a throw gag, the foghorn stayed the same, and the last toon still didn't do anything. The timer ran out, and our turn went on. We lost all our laff, and ended up in the playground.

I know most CCG runs aren't even close to this one, but I wanted to share my experience with everyone.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. Unfortunately, there are some bad runs with the CCG. Not all of them are bad though. *Shrugs*
Just a little tip, if you go in right on time, your more likely to get a good group. It seems like that's when the great CCG members go in.

Wow-thats alot of bad luck...what was the other toons laff? Maybe he ran out of gags...Like Princess Kait said I noticed that if you go in a little later thats when the good guys go in. When you go in there early thats when the eager little cold callers go in. You usually get better runs when you go in just on time.

CCG members wait until the official start time before they enter any of the boss buildings. Those that enter early are either new players who are eager to board or randoms that see all these people in the pit and hurry to catch a run. If there is a lot of elevator shuffling then it was probably a handful of randoms that showed up.

When my son first started running his toon in the CCG VP he almost always left early, and more time than not he ended up sad. He is impatient and starts to panic a little when he sees a toon enter the building and wants to make sure he gets on. We averted this problem by having our close friends become his friends. When he sees them he waits until they enter before he does. Sometimes he islucky to board with them other times he is not.

A simple solution is to find a toon that frequents the runs that you do and then enter the building when they do.

I hate to admit this, but I was actually on this run as curious George. The problem wasnt leaving too early because when I finally arrived in sellbot HQ I was about 5 minutes late... there was only about 10 people still in the pit, so I ran on in... and I usually see a bunch of bigger people standing around waiting... but in this case, there was only 3 bigger people and they were doing the shuffle. we finally got on the elevator with 6 cold callers, 1 mingler, and 1 twoface. Suits mean nothing to me, but i was a little worried from the beginning of this one.... first 3 cogs out, 8, 12, 8 the highest laff on the whole elevator (95) puts up an elephant sound when 2 people already have lure out..... not very pretty.... anyways, The people on your side during the Skelecog round, didnt make it. We went into the pie round as 4... and the VP just wouldnt give it up. Better luck next time

The more distant time you load from the start time, the stranger CCG runs are. A lot of randoms go in early and late. The most experienced toons go to the lobby at the exact starting time- just a bit earlier and a balanced load could have been in place. Maybe some other time, good luck.

That's truely a bad experience!

My son joined CCG several months ago, and I recently started participating (I just started fighting the VP this month).

I have now beaten the VP 6 times, and my experience so far has been great, but bumpy!

[i]..removed.. obviously I did not mean to offend anyone[i]

But of the 8 or so times I've gone in, I've only gone sad twice. Once I couldn't explain, as I had 90 laff and suddenly went sad after the cog attacks were over!

Hang in there, not all CCG runs end badly. And remember - just because a toon is on the elevator at the right time does not mean they follow CCG guidelines.

True... try to go exactly on time, usually the randoms that leak in there somehow go as early as they can.

The strange thing was that the toon that wasn't doing anything had just used an SOS toon to restock drop the turn before we went sad. Even after refilling our drop gags, the toon didn't help at all! I think the toon's laff was around 85.

Thank you to everyone who has posted their thoughts, and from now on I'll wait until the large group enters, and not to go early.

Try to remember that Disney's wonderful game can some times cause you to be delayed, or there might have been something going on, on the other end that could not be helped. Lately Comcast has decided that I don't need to be playing any stinking Toontown and has been booting me.
So, try to be patient. And stick to the guide lines and you'll be a happier toon

Good luck with your next runs with the ccg! Most of them go like clockwork, but some runs go a lot more smoothly than others. I've been on some runs where I'm pretty sure there are kiddos playing toons, and I try to remember it could be someone like my inexperienced daughter playing. I've been delayed and disconnected playing (especially) Hedwig a few times. My computer must not like my poor bird. Thankfully, the toons I've played with have been really understanding. With tt delays can happen quite a bit, depending on how long you've been online or your internet connection.

I notice that you've already gotten the advice to wait until the actual run time to go in. You still sometimes get the odd jumper or random player, but the players who have been around longer usually wait for the offical time.

I look forward to seeing you on your next ccg run!

Megan

Pencil, I'm sorry you had that experience. One should always take valuable downtime seriously when it is compromised since we get so little of it to escape to in our busy lives. However on weekends and holidays there are random elements in runs and you need to expect anything. Sometimes a high laff number means parents worked the toon or a child is on mom or dad's toon. You never can tell. If they begin to act erratically as you mentioned, be on the defensive and work to overkill so there are less cogs attacking. Sometimes that's your only defense.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. It really sounds like the one toon was experiencing a major lag hit. It has happened to me before...I'm sitting at my keyboard pounding the keys...yelling at the screen saying "I'm trying...and then when I do get a gag, its the wrong one...and I try to yank it back, which then leads to nothing....."

And to top it off, you can't find the right speedchat phrase to use other than maybe "I'm stuck" - which you aren't, exactly.....

Regardless, just keep trying...look for one of my toons....I'll try to help you out!

The CCG can't be perfect because nothing is. But the CCG is pretty ideal. Sorry you had a bad expierence but hey would you rather go with randoms and have a bad expierence 1 in 2 times or go with the CCG and have a bad expierence 1 in 20 times. Yeah I though so

I know what you mean...I can't stand random runs. I know this was pretty much a one time thing, but I thought I should share it. Thanks everyone!
