Using "asdf" to communicate in battle

I've seen this most often in CJ. When a toon needs more evidence, they randomly sf chat some letters. Toons also do this when they need helP.

Non-friends or non-sfs will see "meow meow" or "oink oink" or "quackity quack quack". SFs will see "asdfg", "gwdfe" or whatever keys you hit. So toons that fall into these categories will know to take a look.

However, XD friends will see NOTHING, absolutely NADA! They will be clueless that you are trying to communicate.

I know it's hard to find the right speedchat in the heat of battle. What I usually (try) to do is to use a free hand to start looking for the speedchat "I need more evidence" when I still have 2-3 pieces left.

That's it, just wanted to post about it since I know several of my own XD friends never thought about it.

Thanks for posting this H. It never dawned on me that the XD friends would see nothing. I think any phrase that you can get to would also work. If someone says something in CJ, I look. I try to check everyone's laff, once I am in positin either stunning or at the pan, and again while getting evidence. Things can go downhill quickly in the 10 cog gazillion gavel CJs, and it can be very difficult to keep an eye on everyone. A quick check on the toon who says anything, even "Hi there" can make the difference between losing one and all of us dancing.

I also pay attention to ANY speedchat phrase.
I do not pay attention to chatter.

I've never understood people that used jibberish to convey that they are getting evidence. I probably saw people do this in 10 CJs before I found out (from a post, not deduction) that is what they were trying to convey. I honestly just thought they were talking to a friend in CJ. I often talk to friends in CJ when I need to tell someone, "the bunny is low on laff - watch her" or "is the monkey throwing or did he disco?" I think jibberish only serves as more of a confusion to our newer members. Those new to the CJ battle are trying to figure out enough without having to throw jibberish at them and expecting them to know this means, "I'm going to get evidence. Will you please watch my cogs?" Take the couple of seconds and find the speedchat that says, "Help!" or "I'll be right back." if it's too difficult to find, "I need more evidence."

Well, I use the jibberish method, but not as a notice to other toons. It comes in very handy when it's only 2 stunners holding 8 cogs. Staying on the same routine of getting evidence allows us to get the maximum amount of stun bonuses. I've never thought of it as confusing or distracting. But, then again, the only SF I usually have in the CJ is the person I stun with.

When I run out of evidence, I say the following to sfs: "I have just run out of evidence, not to worry though as I am going to get more and will be back very shortly." After which, I let all non-sf's know "I need more evidence" "I'll be right back". Once I've finished communicating my intentions, I then run over and get the evidence.

Once I've gotten back, I make sure to let people know also: "I'm back and I have a full compliment of evidence with which to give the cogs a proper thrashing." and to non-sf: "I found what you need" and "Let's go fight the cogs!"

Usually about that time, the we've beaten the cj!! w00t!!!

I'm not sure why people don't like to cj with me...:biggrin:

I'm guilty i'm a asdf'er. I thought it was a quick way to let other toons know I'm running to get evidence. I know that dxd friends can't see that I have said something, I didn't think that was much of a problem. I'll do my best to convey from now on in speed chat.

ROFL.

I really didn't post this to start this to start any kind of debate about how or what to say (or not say) in battle, really just to remind those that use the jibberish method that their XD friends in the room with them won't see it. Or maybe just to reassure myself that I'm not going blind . . .

Thats funny! I've been hitting asdf when I run for evidence from stunning for-ever. just to let the couple of toons on the line know that I'm on my way...didn't know some people couldn't see it....

Anyyywaaayyy - I always do it, if you wonder what's going on when you see it!
