Small Toon on your side? Pointers so we all dance.

This post is for those running with CCG who didn't sign up as a member and/or don't read the stickied how-to threads (access or not).

Due to the CCG's guidelines and no-shuffle policy, conditions are good for toons of all types to run. Maybe you didn't mean to bring about a toon going sad, but there are easy ways to avoid being the cause. Here are some pointers and stuff:

- You're running with CCG because you heard of a nice success rate. It's because we work together. CCG members follow many common-sense guidelines. We'll get to them.

- You're running with CCG because you're tired of the shuffle. So does everyone else. This means toons with limited gags who want their fair chance. This means following many common-sense guidelines so everyone enjoys success.

- Don't work gags. Bad gags miss and/or underkill a cog. If you put out marbles then that level 11 may dodge the cake and pie coming at it and you've sabotaged the turn, maybe sent someone to the playground.

- When there are small toons on your side, remember they may be carrying only 20-35 gags total. Let them pick first and others follow, as they know their limitations (for example: if they used up all their squirt in the cog round, there may be just throw left for the skelecog round, etc.). Some even carry sound, so if they pull their elephant or fog horn, you can indulge.

- When there are small toons on your side and lure is being used, GO FOR THE SAME COG. It is the CCG's most basic playing guideline, and it means seeing everyone through to the pie round. It doesn't matter that you CAN hit another cog. You don't have to prove it. Teamwork is more important, and it's harder to lure multiple cogs than one.

- Ubertoons know how to play. Ubertoons - toons with smaller laff and high level gags - are big toons who want a little variety and challenge to the game and made their extra toon or toons for this purpose. This usually means they've been where you've been. They should not be treated like newbies or "riskied".

- All gags cost 1 jellybean. No one should be beneath overkilling a 1 or 2 lvl cog together. Overkilling never hurt anyone. If you see that the far right cog (the one due to wake up the following turn) is small, think to yourself that the cream pie costs the same as a fruit slice.

- Be flexible. If a small toon on your side requests hitting the new big cog and not the three little cogs, comply. They have more to lose with one Mingler attack than one waking cold caller lvl 2.

- The pie round is viewed by many as "the real fight" and many toons do not want to be pied every time they are hit by the VP's gears. Respect this if they move away from your throws or use speedchat in some way to indicate that don't want help.

If you do have access to the Members-only forum, check out Strategy for Battling with an Uber. It's great stuff.

an excellently constructed and very pertinent post, especially in light of the increase in non members attending our runs.

i also see you have a "Non Playing Character Clone Toon"

As a person who has 2 ubers (and plays them more often than the big toons), I actually prefer small cogs to be left alone. Even if they do attack, the damage is minimal.

FYI, the forum that the uber battle strategy is in is accessible to anyone.

I'd like to add one more thing (which has already been said in a way, but is worth restating): leave the low lure gags elsewhere. Using a barbie magnet will almost guarantee a miss, even if a bigger lure is coming out. From what I've seen, the standard is to use the big magnet in the Cog round and hypno-goggles in the skel round. I've been sent back to the playground more than once on my 34 due to someone pulling out the barbie magnets against L11 or 12 cogs (even after I said "No" repeatedly).

Flippers, thank you for bringing these excellent pointers up. Being the owner of 9 sell/cash ubers (some sitting back lurking, waiting for the right time to attack and some in training or on vacation), I really appreciate you bringing this to the table (aka forums) for many to read. Also thanks for including DM's thread. EXCELLENT!
