This is a child site
They have regulations and one them is against swearing or lude activities. This is there game and it is their buisness to provide a site that parents don't have to worry about their children seeing inappropiate language. If you didn't know this you might want to read the regulations.

Its not in place just for you. Everyone who types has the sensor. And the reason everyone has it is because some people figured ways around the sensor using punctuation to seperate the letters. So now toontown techies are forced to sensor punctuation which in turn makes it impossible to make smilies. So blame the people who tried to cheat the sensor.

Option #3, Unrestricted. Now I know that most will think that this option is just to allow you to have or not have SF. But the way I see it, unrestricted is just that, unrestricted. Meaning the following: adj 1: not subject to or subjected to restriction [ant: restricted] 2: free of restrictions on conduct; "I had unrestricted access" 3: accessible to all [syn: unexclusive] 4: not restricted or modified in meaning; "unrestricted verbs are usually stronger than those qualified by adverbs" 5: never having had security classification [syn: nonsensitive] Now then, I feel as well as countless others that if you are in the Unrestricted mode that that should include EVERYTHING, including what you say or what you read. While yes I agree to some extent that certain WORDS should be filtered, not all words or ACTIONS (ie: or smilies) should be filtered. After all, what IS said in the SF chat IS private conversation and is of nobodies business but the party that are talking. A while back someone brought up an issue where as "Mods" or "Devs" could read what anyone was saying, I called Toontown about this as it concerned me and they assured me that NO, THEY cannot see what is written between SF. Which is good because I did talk to my neighbor about this, he is a federal lawyer, and he said that if they could, it would be a violation of your privacy. And that there is a federal mandated law that guards people against this sort of behavior, unless it is stated within a form of Privacy Statement or in Disneys Terms of Use agreement. There is no such thing in either of those. Now then, I want my kids to have a safe time while online just like every other parent out there, but I think that Disney should let the parents decide what is suitable for their kids and NOT some corporate censorship committee. There are many game sites, Pogo for one, that has a feature that BLOCKS bad words and this can be turned on or off. So, why cant Disney provide the same or similiar function? Now, that is my own derived opinion and not everyone is going to agree with it. But again, its MY opinion and I have a right to that just as you do. ![]() Thank you for your time. |

Disney = FAMILY. Some people do things here that well, are not appropriate, and Disney is compliant with the US Governments policies protecting children, this is optional and they opt-in to it. I see nothing wrong with it, the only reason you cant TYPE smilies is because of the dash (-), use the speedchat or get creative. Really, if you really MUST swear, use aim, msn, or yahoo messanger, I leave all 3 open and talk through them. Remember, this is a KIDS game, no matter how many adults play, its ment for kids.

Oi, this blocking is not good. The blocking of swear words I understand, but now my sfs and I have gotten into a few arguments as to saying things. Example:
I was talking to my friends Sean (Prince Von Purpleberry) and Rick (Mister Peppy Sniffleglop) (both of these toons are members of this forum, just aren't very active), and Sean said something funny. So I laughed. Just a simple, "LOL!" and then Rick goes, "What's so funny?". So I said, "Sean said something funny.", and Rick says, "What did he say?" I proceeded to tell Rick what Sean said that made me laugh. Rick says, "So what did he say?". At this point I'm a bit confused, but I repeat what I said anyway. After I type it, Rick says again, "What did he say?!" And I reply, "I told you already, twice!" And he says, "No you didn't!" And I insist that yes, I did. Rick says, "LIAR!" and walks away. And no, before you make assumptions, what I tried to convey to Rick that Sean said was NOT something bad. Sean just said, "I bet I'm taller than you in rl. I'm *'**"." (yes, I edited that out o.o). See? And something as g-rated as that was edited out. And further in that day, I was talking to the two of them and my other friend Jess (Rosie), and it happened again. My point is, g-rated things are getting blocked out, and I can't converse fluently with my sfs anymore. It's very frustrating now that even secret codes are being blocked when I think them for my friends to sf each other. Sometimes even whispers (g-rated) don't work! I get frustrated to the point where I just say good-bye and log out. >_< Very annoying. o.o |

Ok, I will let the cat out the bag here. If you are talking to SF and want to say something and it is blocked because of one or two letters in a word, just your you character map and do ALT + (Char number) and it will go though.
Disney cannot block out Windows Characters. ALSO, INSTEAD OF : AND ) USE :} OR = AND ) OR :] |

Also, i noticed that more words are filtered now to the point of making the whole filtering system ridiculous. My friend was talking to me and I could not see anything he was typing, we finally figured out why...the word 'glasses' is now filtered Imagine that!
