Parasite toons 2

This has probably been dealt with before, but I can't figure out how to deal with upper level newbies (around 34 laff). Lately I've tried to be nice while working my 1000, 700, 500 and 400 generic cog tasks and have made friends with some lower laffers in order to help them out (bird seed from legal eagles, etc...). The problem is that some of them are constantly teleporting to me, regardless of what I'm doing or where I am. I generally go runnning if they need help, but it's getting a little annoying. I don't want to remove them from my friends list while they are online or without an explanation. So what do I do? And I know, I got myself into this situation. But i was only trying to be nice and to help others.

Yes

Probably kids.

If you get sick of 'em, try a few "stop that!s. If it carries on, eventually you'll have to drop 'em.

The key point is :

Don't drop 'em when they're online!

That is VERY bad manners

They probably won't notice you are missing from their friends list.

Unhappy Am I scum?

I befriended a toon recently who was a lower laff(34 or such) and helped him take out some Minglers, etc. This guy would NOT leave me alone. For FOUR days, every time I logged on he would beg for help. I wanted to be nice because other toons have always helped me. When I finally began saying "Sorry, I'm busy completing a toon task" because I really did want to finish my own, he didn't let up. He would teleport to me, pm me with "I need help. I need to defeat such and such." I was working with a group last night and he was completely disruptive and would not take the hint to go away. This after I helped him take out two buildings. So I took him off my list while he was online.

Was I wrong to do that? He was driving me nutso!

Parasite toons

Sorry, but I have to agree with Meg.
I had one toon, following me everywhere.
They were always in my face, and jumping to me.
I spoke with a higher toon, she said to be nice.
But finally, I just dropped them (yes, online.)
No, I do not make that a habit. It was just too
frustrating!

make a note of the toon's name

and remove them next time you are on - or if they leave before you.

I like to have a "spare" toon for use in these situations - one with no friends or just secrets - hop there for half an hour, and if the 'pain' is still online when you get back, change again.

You will get rid of the pain the same day, and with over three thousand toons in Open, you don't need to wear a disguise to stay out of their way

Talking I'm nice, most of the time...

I could not avoid the toon that was following me. He was everywhere. I think you have to be rude to some people. Like the other night I had a toon stalking me. Literally. Never saw him before in my life. Just kept following me and saying, "Please be my friend." I had to teleport when I was trying to get jellybeans because he followed me onto the trolley. He followed me. How did he do that??? Finally I switched districts.

I know it's just a game but sometimes there are some creepy people playing. I get totally weirded out by someone who will follow me around and beg for help for an hour straight, even though I'm saying, "Sorry, I'm busy." I consider myself a pretty patient person but that is nuts.

I too have been in the situation where someone was sounding my lures and killing off my friends. Grrr. I know they don't know any better(at least I hope they don't), but it's still unnerving. Maybe I should compare it to a friend having all the hotels in Monopoly and making me go bankrupt. It may be just a game, but it still makes me angry.

Unfortunately, whenever you have any kind of instant messaging system, you're gonna have stalkers. (I've had my share of them with trillian. :P) Unfortunately, toontown is the only one where they can teleport to you. ^^;

Sorry about the sadness the other night Danish.

In this particular case the building was in TTC and they were low laffers....I checked them out and they all only had squirt and throw.
I have been in a situation where they were camping certain gags so I made sure I picked properly as not to mess them up.

This place is getting like a soap opera Lol...I remember when there was a building , we went in with as many toons as possible.
Now we have to be 'in' with the gang to get in?

I usually try to avoid dropping a toon while they're online but you try to be nice to noobs or lower laffers, and sometimes they just latch on to your "POWAH!" (as I call it). I'm sorry but sometimes it calls for immediate action when they are being overbearing, like the case with Meg's "friend". I always give them 3 strikes & they're out! If I'm helping them & they do that, I will first tell them "Stop that.", then I'll tell them "Wait here", "I'm going to look for that". I will continue to tell them "stop that" if they persist. If it gets too much that I'm not enjoying myself (because that's the point of the game, isn't it?) Then I will tell them "Sorry!" "I need to go.", then tell them "Have fun!" or "Good luck", then dump them, offline or online...MAYBE, just MAYBE, they'll learn their lesson and not be so annoying. I think after a few people do this to them, they'll realize that they're losing more friends than gaining & stop the behaviour, esp. since this game is about teamplay. You get burned enough times, you'll learn (hopefully) to stop touching a hot stove! LOL. Drop them, if you can, while they're offline, but if they won't take "No!!!" for an answer, either stay annoyed with them & put up with it or take 'em off your list. They'll get over it & probably won't remember you after a week! That's my opinion...

I have played through dial-up many times (64K ISDN single line) when my broadband was down. It is not a problem at all. There is relatively little traffic if you stay out of the wild areas.
