Case of the missing buildings and Drive By tooning
Normally, I am not one to rant.
That being said, here is my rant. A friend of mine really needed level 5 bossbot buildings. After about 20 minutes, I found one. As we were getting all friend toons together (4 of us total) , a toon runs up. Now three of us are standing there waiting for the last. Drive by toon calls up his buddy, walks into the elevator with buddy, says "lets go!". Now that really annoys me but is just the start of my rant. For the next 45 minutes I jumped from server to server in Donald's Dreamland, trying to find a level 5 boss. I found: One level 5 (taken) and one level 3 (not what we needed). In the meanwhile my friend was hopping through the Brrghs, finding no level 5 boss either. After 45 minutes I actually found one, doors open and everything. Two issues: 1. To those who see that there are toons in front of a building, tossing out speedchat phrases like: "No thank you" "No" "Sorry" "Lets wait for my friend" STAY AWAY FROM THAT BUILDING! It is quite rude to take this building from toons who just spent 20 plus minutes searching for it. And no, I was not on a server like the Old Sillyham. I can understand all those solo toons on that server running into buildings, and tend to avoid overly populated streets. 2. The drop to 16 servers has once again made toontown not very much fun for me. I am not so sure I want to play a game that requires 75 percent of my time walking around trying to find a task requirement that consumes only 25 percent of my gameplay. Now, sometimes people get lucky and find what they need right away. Generally, for me and my toon friends, this is not the case. All that rant ranted, what do other people think? I never rant without some suggestions, so here are mine: 1. An elevator button. When a toon finds a building they press an elevator button which starts a timer. The toon that presses the button chooses the toons that come with them. If the timer runs out, said toon may not press the button again, it must be pressed by another toon. If said toon leaves the street, timer is reset and another toon can press the button. This would greatly reduce mine and others frustrations about the scarcity of buildings. 2. Populate more buildings. I cannot think of any reason in this game to not allow for more buildings, other than Disney getting worried about game stagnancy due to many toons getting maxxed out. 3. Do not create tasks that enforce a toon to spend more time running around streets and fighting other toons for buildings. Either allow for enough task items to meet the current task demands in a reasonable timeframe. OK, I feel better now. Feel free for rejoinders, sympathy, or get-well cards. Megazilla/McGruff |

For Megazilla: Getting a spinning gold star is hard enough, having cogs steal my buildings more often would not be fun. The idea is to implement things to prevent at least a good number of toons being where they shouldn't anyway. My suggestion: You know that hidden xp stat that builds your gag damage up throughout the game? There could be a message that simply says "You are not toon enough to enter (DL, TB, DG, MM, or DD)." Or at least something to that effect. Toons can then go around until the stat is high enough. Different criteria could be: Laff level or completing that area's collection of tasks for your current level before being given access to the next "tier" area. |

Some toons are very rude...
I've done many a buildings with friends and when we go to do a building...non-friend toons come up and run into the elevator and then have the gall to tell us to "Let's Go!", "Hurry!", "Hurry Up!", and "Let's Go On The Elevator!". We're like, "This is our building, go away"! They then go on without us going in. At that point, we stand outside the elevator and wait because we can tell if toons aren't going to make it or not when we check their stats before the elevator closes. A 15 laffer in a 4 or 5 story building in MM, TB, and DL are NOT going to make it without 70+ laffers in there with them (which tends NOT to happen HEHE). So, we just wait for them to get sad so the elevator will reopen and we can go in and take the building down ourselves. Now, I seem to not be the only one but, if toons are outside the building when you get to it and they're SpeedChatting "Let's Wait For My Friend" and it goes to make 3 toons with it, ASK "Would You Like Some Help?" and if it's 4 toons, STAY AWAY FROM THE BUILDING! If you ask them if they'd like help and they say Yes, go ahead and help, but if they say No or No Thank You, STAY AWAY. If you want the building with toons nearby, use your manners and politeness for goodness sakes. DON'T BE RUDE! I hate when people are rude. This game is supposed to be fun but being rude makes everyone else VERY MAD! USE THOSE MANNERS YOUR MAMA TAUGHT YOU!!! I KNOW YOUR MOTHERS DIDN'T RAISE NO FOOLS!!! GEEZ!

yeah i've seen many that have names close to mine or have parts of all of my toons' names. For example, I saw a couple of toons the other day with the names King Duke something and Cool Max something and I laughed cause I thought it was cool.

If you see 4, and they aren't trying to tell a n00b to go away, stay away. If they get the n00b to go away, but they are waiting for enough friends to go in that would make 4 and they show up, go away. If the friends they call for don't show up and 3 or less toons from the original group you saw go in, go in. This one might be a tad risky since another toon might be racing in that the group was expecting but didn't say anything. I might not go in if I see another toon running in unless they are way too low for the building or I really, really want the building and the group didn't say anything in the first place. If you get to 3 or less toons at about the same time another toon runs up to the group...ask if you can help, and leave if they say no. Last edited by f3lixx; 08-21-2003 at 05:30 PM. |

![]() I can most certainly deal with the issue of having a building "stolen" if finding a new one is fairly simple to do (re: finding a level 5 boss building). Some toons are young and don't know/care about etiquette. Others, regardless of age are just plain rude. If two toons want to keep a spinning gold star and feel its necessary to take a building that has three toons in front of it, so be it. That toon wont ever be on my friends list ![]() I just am looking for ideas to E-mail to disney about the quality of gameplay. I E-mailed disney about the elevator button already and am now looking for different suggestions and ideas to make the game that much more enjoyable. Regards, Megazilla/McGruff |

let me clarify
I rarely if ever say "you stink" to toon. You have to do something very very bad to get that phrase outta me. So for me to do it to someone everytime I see them or to even remember them at all. Must mean something. I really don't even like that phrase on here and could think of many other ways to express my disapproval. Kinda like telling some one to "Shut up" I don't do it. hush, be quiet, shhhh, sure but never shut up it is a bad word in my house.
have fun good luck MrsJenny |

The elevator button idea has come up before. If I remember correctly, the opposing argument was that anyone wanting to "grief" other players by "claiming" the bldg. in such a manner, would just make it easier for them to do so.
Since we can't test the "button" idea, I don't know if it would help or hinder. It's possible that "claiming" a bldg. has more negative benefits than positive. There has to be another way. I think it's manners and etiquette, but that doesn't seem to be working The only way to solve this problem is the latter part of your suggestions list. Players just need more servers and more bldgs. And I agree that because there are less and less possible chances that you will find what is required to finish a task, it does seem to generate bad feelings and toons against toons. It was really nice when we had 30+ districts, so even though there's less now, I think Disney is working on it. At least I hope so.
