Angry Teleporting Etiquette

If I'm on one end of a playground (let's say DG Oak Street) and someone from the other end teleports to me from near Maple Street, then goes into Oak Street, is that bad etiquette? It happens to me alot and I find it annoying. I know they're just trying to take a shortcut but it causes me to stop what I'm doing to see if they really want to talk to me (in rare cases, they do.)

Well, at the very least, it would be nice of them to say "Thanks!" when doing it. I try to avoid teleporting to anyone I don't know unless I am just in a lazy mood. Even then it's someone who's stationary (not moving). The only time I would teleport to someone is at CBHQ when trying to avoid running across the train tracks.

If it bothers you, my advice is don't stop. They're inconveniencing you. If you don't stop, they won't be able to teleport to you. I probably wouldn't stop for a person I didn't know unless it was at CBHQ, personally. Just explain "Sorry!" "I need to go!" and keep running! I wouldn't be friends with someone who teleported to me over and over again, so yeah...I guess I could agree that in my opinion, it's bad etiquette.

"Bad etiquette" applies to the individual. So yeah, if it bothers you and it seems rude, it's bad etiquette to you and that's what matters. A game shouldn't stress you out. Do I think it's rude? If a toon is running to get somewhere and out of the blue, someone tries to hitch a ride, it can be annoying at the very least.

I do that in the CBHQ all the time! But, I always say thanks or throw out some jellies to the person I tp'd to. Likewise, ppl do it to me all the time as well..I guess I never thought it would irritate someone since it doesn't bother me at all...unless I know the toon tp'ing to me I might say hi or I just ignore them unless they specifically talk to me. At any rate, now that I know it bothers ppl I will be more cautious about my tp'ing.
Have fun in Toontown!

Why not help someone out if that is what they need? If you are running, it only takes a second or two of stopping to let them TP to you. You are under no obligation to stop & chat. They can speak to you on the run if that is what they are after. There are also a lot of kids out there just playing around & TPing to whoever or they are friends looking for "a ride" as me & my friends on TT call it (running to HQs all the time is just too time consuming).

I'm wondering, how do you know which street they are on? Maybe its a lower-level toon with no TP access to where you are. Wouldn't you want to help them out in that case so they don't have to run all the way there. Its just part of TT & they don't stop you from doing anything you want anyway (unless you want them to).

Just giving my opinion. I don't mind at all when anyone TPs to me. There is a reason why they gave us the TP button & I'm very grateful to have it!!

If I'm standing near Oak Street and someone is exiting out the Gag shop door in DG and they want to tp to me so they don't have to run across the pg it's perfectly fine with me! I see it as a way of helping someone whether they are a stranger or friend, no problem. To me it has nothing to do with etiquette at all.

I used to have alot of fun helping toons with the factory and VP, but thanks to Disney I can't take them on factory runs for fear they will ruin my merits and I'm not EVEN gonna talk about how hard it is to get on the VP elevator with randoms. There are so few ways to help out strangers nowadays, I just don't see what the big deal is if someone wants to tp to me! I mean, come on! This irratates you? Sheesh.........

I thought you were responding to Bunny's question about whether or not it was strangers or friends teleporting...I was just trying to shed some light on your's and Bunny's question and chose your post to quote..

It doesn't bother me in the least. I do it to others and nobody has ever seemed upset by it. Why would they?

I have had that happen to me many times and the only time I ever get a thanks is if I am in front of the bullion or cfo. If I'm ever in one of the playgrounds and someone does that to me, never get a thank you, not even a simple hello. I'd have to say that's the only time it annoys me. I can't say it annoys me in CHQ because I do it all the time as well, yet, I ALWAYS say thanks and I bow to the toon in front of me after I do tp to them. I do it for the same I reason I think everyone does... not only does it take a little bit to cross the darn tracks, but it also can take even longer sometimes because CHQ seems to be a popular place and it's always crowded and I get lagged... then next thing I know, I was just ran over by a train!!! LOL. *ouch* Gwen

I always let people do that and I never do that! And I did it a couple times and said thanks and talked to them for a slight amount of time, and I never do that with my friends. The thing about good deeds is no one knows you did 'em. Why do good deeds? It will be forgotten tomorrow. While bad sins will be remembered forever.
