Cool I am NOT ignoring you...!!

Thought I might clear the air here on a subject that I believe that might be bothering a few others:

Scenario: So you've just beaten a lvl. 5 Cash build. in the Brrgh. You're tired, happy, and breathing a sigh of relief, when you notice you have next to no gags, and even fewer beans. Hey, it's Trolley Time..!! Yippee...!

So you hop on the Trolley, get right in the middle of, let's say, the Ring Game, and...Pssst!! you get a message from a buddy. Rats! you think. How do I answer my friend without missing about 3-4 rings..??

We've all been there...and it frustrates me, in so much that I will go ahead and answer, thereby giving up a potential perfect game of Rings, Maze, Minnie's, etc. Sometimes, though, I won't answer, hoping my buddy will realize what it is that I'm doing. Hard to tell.

My favorite has to be, your just about to answer a buddy's message while your in a building by clicking on his/her message, when the darn thing disappears too quickly..! Arrrgh! Leaves me thinking that my buddy might be thinking that I really don't care enough about his/her problem to respond. I'm hating it, folks...!

Point being, if you've ever partied with me (WigglyDiggly), and we've become friends or even "secret" friends, and for some reason I'm not responding to your message, trust me, it's usually for a good cause...! Usually user error in most cases...LOL

Just something I thought I'd mention...Peace..!

As long as you send your friend a message once you finish riding the trolley or bashing the building, I really don't think this should even be an issue.

For me at least, the missing afk message is a bigger problem. While I'm off getting my tea or tucking in the kids, there is no way to know how many whispers I'm missing. I hate to be ignored myself so I really dislike the fact that I can't let others know that I'm not at my keyboard to respond! I usually try to remember to put up a thought bubble with AFK inside it. At least that way, if someone ports to me they can see I'm not ignoring them!

tough in the maze

Responding while in the maze is very tough too. But, it's got to be a friend to communicate, so I try to say something to them when out of the game.

Otherwise, I have to assume they think I'm AFK for a sec.

Unless they then try to tp to me.. Uh Oh!

i'm so bad about going afk. the only time i have to play is in the evenings after work in between getting dinner and playing with son and getting him into bed. i don't have a big list of friends (mainly because i can't play very often) but of those i have if i don't answer you i'm definately afk!

It may be too late now, but wouldn't it be nice to have an autoresponder that you could turn on if you were afk that automatically replied "[Name] is AFK".

The fact that people may think I'm ignoring them bothered me as well. For a while I was leaving my toon in game, but I'd come back and there would be all of these message bubbles of people who I'd missed. I taken to just logging out if I'm going to be away. Otherwise its like the boy who cried wolf, people start assuming that you're on, but your afk.

I emailed the D-bots and posted my suggestion here on the old board, that they should put a 3rd chat icon in the top left that serves as a 'message' log. Click on it and a message window comes up showing the last 10 messages sent to you. They could take it to the next level by allowing you to click on each message and reply, although I'd be content just having a simple message log

I'm with Loosy on this one...I've often thought we need a "journal" of sorts to see what we've missed.

Wow, Loosy, that is a great idea. I hadn't thought of that, but boy would it be useful!

I emailed the developers a while back suggesting the AFK message. I hope it's something they can institute.

What I do if I'm on the Trolley in the middle of a game is click on the whisper and open the chat box up. I don't respond until I've finished the game. This way the whisper can't disappear on you and you can respond while still on the trolley.

Another thing I do if I'm AFK is to open my book up and Alt Tab back to windows. When you come back, every message is on your screen still and you can respond to those that tried to come to you or message you.

Hope these help

Megg. That 2nd one sounds neet. Does it work on windowed version if you mimininze?

I often like to leave my toon in game just for folks to use me to port to. As well as I have a friend in Japan (I am in USA), so I stay on line when I am at home and check every so often to see if he has come on line. Tis hard for us to meet up to play together with the big time difference. I'll put up afk messeges etc to let him know what I am doing if he comes on line.

On the first one that would only work on 1 person right? Not if multiple folks whisper you while in a game?

Thanks for the suggestions Megg, I do the trolly thing already, but the other is a great help. With 3 kids, I am up and down out of my chair all the time, and I am always afraid I miss alot of chatting

The Alt Tab back to windows and still receive messages only works on full screen unfortunately. I tested that a while back and none of the messages stick on minimised window (even if you Alt Tab the window it still doesn't work)

And yes, the first one only works for one person messaging at a time. You'd have to decide which one was the most important one.

It still works for me dandyboing, you haven't changed to window mode have you?
