Test, LE, Beta

Can someone please explain to me what the difference is between LE, Beta and Test?

I'm begining to think I'm the only one out there who doesn't know the difference...all I know is I'm on LE.

Well, unless I'm way too sleep depped to get your question properly, the first thing is that the current beta and test are the same thing. The current beta is beta 3 which has been referred to as the test servers or similar. They're the same thing.

As to what is up with test/beta 3 that is where the new stuff Disney intends to maybe add to the main version of Toontown gets tried out. Most recently they've tried out the high level building only cog street invasions and physical actions triggered by speedchat (waving when saying hello). If it works out with the smaller test population then it will likely get used in LE and eventually the final release of Toontown. If it's still twitchy then they'll keep tweaking it or write it off.

We called the Late Lamented version 1.0.13 of Toontown "Beta 1". In September 2002, they updated it, and we called it Beta 2. When they went public with it, they called it "Limited Engagement", so we started to call it "LE". They also called that version the "Sneak Preview".

The Test server could be called Beta 3, but since they've always called it Test, that's as good a name as any.

So, there are two versions of Toontown running: LE, aka Sneak Preview, and Test. They recently announced that the Sneak Preview will be finished soon, which looks like it means that anyone who has not signed up yet will need to pay the new, higher price to get in the game. They have said that if you are currently paying the $5.95 / month, then that price will never go up.

It doesn't look like they have any plans on doing a character wipe. Good thing, too. :)
