Ok, I do think this game is addicting and I do think some people are addicted. Did Disney do this on purpose? In a way, yes. Disney has the ONE thing you need to make money -- enterntainment for ALL age groups. A kid's game on the outside, but a mix of ages on the inside. They have tons of things for everyone, and that's why Disney is such a rich and popular company.

Now, my view on being addicted. Do I play alot? Some people would consider I do. Do I know my priorities? Yes. I have found myself turning down a request to do something with friends because I wanted to have time on the game. It's not necessarily the game, but I have friends that aren't on all the time and I like to play with them. An addiction is something you can't quit. I HAVE quit for long periods of time, of course it was not my choice but I did it. I certainly didn't have withdrawal symptoms. I missed it, yes, but I was ok. Like I said, I do sometimes do the things you posted. HOWEVER, I know my priorities. I go to school, I make decent grades, I work out, and I have a life if you ask me, LOL.

I may play too much, OK, I DO play too much, but I know that things have to be done before TT. Sometimes I lose track of time and skip HW because of it, sometimes I abandon my friends because of it, but I do know my priorities and when they need to be done they're done. I keep myself fit and healthy and really that is all that matters to me. I eat dinner with the family and talk about things, I go to school and hang out with friends that way so it's not like I abandon everybody, LOL. Next year I am going to take a college course(while still in HS) and I am going to work my behind off in it because it's a course that teaches the job I plan to do, which makes GOOD money. So I know I have my whole life ahead of me and I know that TT will not always be there ALL the time. However, while I am only going to HS and don't have very much HW why not have fun and play a game I love to play?

Besides, HALF the time I am not even PLAYING TT. I post on TTC, look up scores and stats for teams, and just search the web so alot of times my TT friends are wondering why my toon is ALWAYS asleep.. That's because I am not always playing TT, I am normally doing tons of other things. Addicted to TT? No. Addicted to the internet? Maybe, while time permits me to be on it .

I can agree with you in some aspects of that post...but not all.
The term "toontown is just a game" is very true. It is just a game, but we must remember that us humans can get attached to objects/things very easily. When you look back to your childhood, I bet you had a special blankie or stuffed animal that was very special to you. You were attached to it. Becoming attached to something is an addiction. Now, you look back and think, it was just a blanket/animal. It was just an inaminate object with no feelings. Toontown is somewhat related to this attachment we feel when doing something that we love or something that makes us feel better. I know that I like to play Toontown because it gives me a break from my real life, it is something different, I can be a totally different person on Toontown. I can block out all the unlucky or bad things that happened in the day and focus on Toontown.
Secondly, we will all have different views and ideas about this post. If all us thought in the same way, what would differ us from that girl over there, or this guy. Even if you disagree with me or the thread starter, you will always have your thoughts and morals that keep you addicted or not.

It's not just the factor of gaining weight or not having a social life, but if you're addicted and sitting in front of the screen for many many hours a week, you're basically wasting time that you could be using studying for SAT, playing a sport to be healthy, helping out around the house, and just focusing on school a lot. I mean think about it, you're not going to live with your parents forever and you need to have a good work ethic when you go to college and get a job.

I admit I'm slightly addicted myself and I'm trying to un-addict myself (lol) and it's actually working. What I do is ask myself the question if I didn't have toontown, would I study more, clean this room better, etc? and I try to work harder because in my family, I have to get everything done to earn my toontown =P Yes, toontown is a wholesome game to play but it's not good for young people to be so addicted to it
