Where's the Disney in ToonTown?

I mentioned this once in another thread, but no one ever commented. When you stop to think about it, how much Disney is there is Disney's ToonTown Online?

Go ahead, think about it. I'll wait . . . Come up with much? Me neither.

Obviously we've got the iconic Disney toons: Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald (twice, his chant in the original MMC theme song must have had some impact after all), and Goofy (still puttering around in Daisy's Gardens.) While it's fun taking the occasional screen shot with them, there's 0 interaction. Nothing. You can't even get tasks from them. They're basically moving background.

Oh, there's another one: The name Daisy.

Uh . . . Scrooge McDuck was in the download movie (but oddly, absent from the game.)

Oh, we've got Clairabelle now too. Can't forget everyone's favorite cartoon cow.

Other than that there's really not much. ToonTown itself is a Disney property, introduced to most of us (I still haven't read the book it was based on) in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. But even that movie (though technically owned by Disney) wasn't just Disney, we had almost every note-worthy toon ever created in the movie.

Don't get me wrong. I love TT the game. It's a blast. But when I joined up, I was really excited to join in the Disney world. I've since realized that TT toons resemble the classic Looney Toons much more than Disney. I don't recall Mickey ever throwing a pie. Dynamite? Straight from ACME to Wile E. Coyote. PGs aside, TT could just have easily been created by any other software company from scratch, and not been that much different. Another example, how come we can't make mice that look anything like Mickey and Minnie?

When I heard about SOS toons, I thought to myself, wow, they're finally doing it. We'll be able to call on Mickey when we need help. I was dissapointed to discover it was Lil' Oldman and Flippy instead. Does anyone think the same? Anyone long for a little more of the Disney touch to TT? I know I do.

Where's the Disney in Lilo & Stitch?

Where's the Disney in Finding Nemo?

I don't know if it's sacreligeous to say this here, but I was always a much bigger fan of Bugs Bunny and company anyway. ^_^

Why, hello there!

But the Disney TNT actually works against the cogs, not the toons!

That's why I joined I'm a Warner Bros fan, not Disney. My friend who introduced me doesn't like Disney either. When he told me it was a Disney game I was like "oh, bums" but he said actually it was good because it looked more like WB so I tried it.

When I was a noob toon, I too was a little disappointed to learn that Mickey, Minnie and the gang were basically just walking scenery. I think it would be very cool if toons could ask them questions using the blue Chat button and get an occasional hint. Like "Where should I go to find Number Crunchers?" and they could respond with a street suggestion. Or to make it even easier, Mickey could ask "What Toontask are you working on?", you would respond, and he would give you the hint.

Surely it wouldn't be all that hard for the developers to do this!

when i first started I thought micky and minnie WERE giving me hints!!LOL "its snowing in the bbbrg" or" new flowers in Daisys garden",ect... I actually though I was getting hints! Its amazing I ever got as far as I have. I also wonder if the developers are behind those main Dis toons watching us ect... sometimes in the early days I would get help from a misteryous stranger when there wern't any friends around .I think the Devs used to come on and play a lot.sometimes you see them with all the gag tracks and maxxed at that.

Talking

Yeah that's a GREAT point...

I hate it when Mickey (& friends)just come up to you & say "ha ho, Hi my name's Mickey, What's your name?" I mean, ask us something useful(or something we can answer) or help the noobies!!!

Talking bout noobies, they all have trouble knowing what to do these days, running everywhere getting "I think this is too risky for you" from more advanced players & going sad...><

Tell you pplz something funny...when I first came to toontown I spent over half an hour asking Mickey, Shop Keepers, & Toon HQ's "Where's the Toontown Library?" (lol)

Ok that's it *places paper bag over head*

Mr. Nice, that's funny - I was sure at first that the Disney characters were giving us hints, too.
And then when the 4th of July fireworks came out, Mickey was standing by me asking me such pointed questions about them, that I felt REALLY sure it was a developer behind him trying to see if the players were enjoying the new stuff! I told him how much I was enjoying the game and all the new stuff. It was like a real conversation, and Mickey didn't leave for a long time. Who knows?

Yeah, I do wish things were more Disney-like. I still want to earn some mousketeer ears, or buy them in the cattlelog.
I want an amusement park playground to open up some day. I want a Haunted House task, or an Indiana Jones area.
We can only dream!

But the name of the game is Toontown. Yes is says Disney's Toontown but it also said National Lampoons Vacation not that it was meant to imply an adult film. So it would be cool if the disney characters were involved but I don't think it was necessarily misleading.
