Friend Management Feature Suggestions

I sent this suggestion to the TT folks at Disney just now. Thought I'd post it here for feedback:

Hi,

I'd like to make suggestion regarding friends. I have a bit of a hard time managing my friends list because it's very poorly constructed (let's face it, it's just a list of names with nothing to help you sort them out).

I have two suggestions, one I feel much more strongly about than another.

First, I'd like to have some concept of the last time I associated with a friend. Undoubtedly people have asked you to put on friends lists "Last time online," but I think that's a bad idea. I don't think toons should be able to keep tabs on other toons, when they've been on, and so on. On the other hand, "Last time I saw this toon" or something of the sort is not only innocuous, but it has some benefits:

1. A friend may still be a regular player but you haven't played together in 6 months. This would allow you to make the distinction.
2. "Last time I saw this toon" is something you _could_ conceivably keep track of on pencil and paper. You simply see your friend, and you make a note of it. As such, it doesn't give you any "keep tabs on other toons" advantage that you didn't have before, preserving people's privacy.

Second, but not nearly as important as my previous suggestion, it would also be nice if you had some concept of how "important" a friend is to you. This could be a free-form field, but I don't know if I like that idea. Instead, how about keeping track somehow of how many minutes/hours you were in the same room with this particular friend? Or how many cogs you have fought together? Or how many buildings or floors you have cleared together? These statistics give you some idea of how much time you may have spent with a toon. This is particularly important when you have a toon who changes names on you. I played my toon as "Periwinkle Duck" for a while until I applied for a name and got it approved. At that point, my non-secret friends would find an unfamiliar toon on their list -- "Sauce" instead of "Periwinkle Duck," and the only two things left to remind them of me is my appearance and possibly my statistics (but those change as I progress in the game). This makes it really difficult a month or two later if you want to clear up your friends list...

So to recap, what I'd love to see on my friends list are:
1. Last time I saw/spoke to/fought with/fished with a toon
2. How many battles have I fought/floors or buildings have I taken over/cogs have I defeated/minutes or hours have I played with a toon

Thanks for your time, hope you consider these features!

Thumbs up

I think this is a great idea. I hope Disney looks into this, I find it hard to prune my list down the way it is, I just don't have the energy to manually track the friends that I am always on with, and I can't trust my memory. I'd like to get some sf's from this site but I feel bad whenever I delete people from my current list.

Is there anything we can do to let them know we think this would be a great feature?

Well, I don't know whether the Disney folks will or won't appreciate this approach, but you could go to their comment submission page:

http://play.toontown.com/problem.php

and click on "Submit a comment or suggestion" and tell them you heard about this idea and would also like to see it implemented.

Who knows, if enough people chime in they may take it more seriously.

Okiedokie. Done, I quoted your letter(with credit, of course) and told them I support it wholeheartedly.
