Low-laffers in The Brrrgh...
Is it just my imagination or is there a ton of 16-18LP toons running around The Brrrgh lately? I'm not talking about apprentice toons with lvl 3-4 gags.. these only have lvl 1-2 throw and squirt. I really don't mind them until they squirm their way into a 4-story bldg and continually beg for toon-ups. I try to be nice, but how many times should you toon one up while they keep missing with their cupcakes and flowers?
I know this sounds mean, but sometimes I hope they get wiped out in the first cog volley so the rest of us don't have to worry about them anymore.

Mostly it doesn't bother me. But when they jump into a battle and don't offer to even help with their first-level attacks, that annoys me.
Also it's not cool if they take the place of a more experienced toon in a building where you might not survive without four experienced toons... but that's only a problem in really big buildings and where everyone else is somewhat lacking in experience.

I hear ya
What's worse is when the newbies jump into buildings in Dreamland. I once went in a couple of newbies and found myself healing them while they used their low gags. This resulted in them not being able to heal me back. It gets frustrating and you're left having to save your own neck.
Here's a frustrating example. You have a task that has you defeating 5 level cashbot buildings. You search and search and finally find one all to yourself. Ahh what a find. Now to find help. All of a sudden there's a mad rush of toons coming to jump in. You can't check all their laff levels because you might miss your window. So you go in. You go in and see 44, 56, and 52 laffers. Oye Vei you think to yourself. Wouldn't it be cool if those ToonTown techies put a block on newbies from entering buildings in Dream and Brrgh? Maybe after reaching a certain level of Laff pts you can enter. I'm going to go talk to Lil old man about this. What do you think? JJ Mouse 100 LP (all maxed, no lure) Silly Rabbit 102 LP (all maxed, no drop) Ugly Duckling 100 LP (5 maxed, no trap, yellow not brown duck) Toons Rule!!! |

I know what you mean
A couple weeks ago I had the recover a key to DG from the Minglers task. I went on a street and right in from of me was a two story sellbot building with two toons in the elevator. I run and get in while the countdown was on 1. When we get in I se that both are only 15 laffers. We get through the first floor ok, but I used a lot of high level gags so that they didn't get hit when they attack the wrong cog. The second floor one died but the other made it ok. The last gags was the 15 using a flower and me using a sand bag. It hit and I was really surprised. Losing only one noob in a two story sellbot in DG. Noobs should definatly stay in TTC or DD, but we can't really get them to stay other than by saying "I think this is too dangerous for you."

Everyone has different reasons for playing toontown and if my five year old gets his kicks by going sad in battles, that is his right, and that is what the game is for him. My daughter has been in her 20's for months because she prefers to fish, and shop for clothes and for her house. That is what the game is for her. It can be frustrating to get on an elevator with low laughers, especially in DL where buildings are often in high demand, but it is part of the game. It would not be fair to restrict the younger toons. I just try to check everyone out before I get into an elevator if I really need the building for a task.
I have also found that some younger toons are more experienced in a battle than an older toon. I was in a 5 story building yesterday with 2 101's, 1 92, and a 72. The 72 nearly got us all killed by constantly waking up lured cogs and using toon up unecessarily despite everyone saying no. I was also in a 5 story building with 2 101's and and 2 50's yesterday. The 50's really knew what they were doing and we raced through the building and left with full laugh points. So all I am saying is you can't always judge a toon by their laugh points, and for the really low toons, just do your best to avoid them. |

In my original post, I was NOT talking about 72LP toons not knowing how to play (or griefing), nor was I talking about low-laffers with high-level gags. I was talking about obvious newbie-toons getting on elevators in the Brrrgh.
"This is GREAT! Lookit me in the Brrrgh! I'm gonna take a building! Wheeeee! I hope my name gets approved soon!" Some of us do not have the time to play this game for hours and hours, so we have to make the best use of our time online. We are not always able to check out everyone on an elevator before we enter it. Also, when you're already on the elevator, you cannot check anyone out. Some parents seem to encourage what is basically griefing by telling their children it is OK to go on an elevator just so they can "go sad" in battle, with no regard for anyone else in the building. Sorry, but that is wrong.

It depends I suppose on whether they are jumping in an elevator and you decide to go along without checking them out, or they jump in after you and maybe even take the place of another toon... they should have the right to go anywhere they want, but they should be considerate enough to not ruin the game for others on purpose. But if they jump into an elevator and then you follow them, that's not their fault. ^_^

I (and the other toons there) got a 15 laffer through a 5 story building in the Brrrgh earlier. He jumped in at the last second, no worries cos we could do it on our own anyway. He didn't use a single gag, he passed every time. Even so, the cogs never got a chance to hit us really, got most of them in one turn. At the end I saw he had only 1/10 for throw and squirt, so must have been straight out of the toontorial.
Trouble is, now he's gonna think he can do that all the time. Also got a 32 laffer through a 4 story Dreamland blg, and nearly got a 16 laffer through a 5 story Dreamland blg. She died on the 4th floor because of the other people - I had already chosen a stormcloud for a level 7 and for some reason the others both decided to use throw (fruit pie plus birthday cake) on that level 7. There was another cog there too but only the 16 laffer hit that one. So of course she was the one to get hit and she died. Or if someone had tooned her up, guess we were all to blame for that. Oh well.
