Hi there! Captain Corky here to give you some quick tips on racing that I have discovered along the course of my toons racing career. Here we go:
1. If you need wins, try and find a friend who needs qualifications in a course and play with them. Also, try finding a friend or even better, a family member who is willing to alternate wins with you. This way, you get trophies a lot faster! Try your best not to talk or it may distract you and slow you down. 2. If you need wins in a single course, avoid Grand Prix's and the longer version of that type of race. Say you need wins in Speedway courses, try and stick to Screwball Stadium instead of Corkscrew Coliseum. This will save you time, plus the difference in tickets is very small. The only place where this doesn't apply is Blizzard Boulevard, as it ends up being faster, and frankly funner than City Circuit in my opinion! 3. If you get enough tickets to buy a new kart, paint or accessory, make sure you have enough tickets to race again afterwards! Say you want to buy a Roadster at 7500 tickets, try and get at least 8000 before you buy it, otherwise you many have to do practice courses to get your total back up! To save tickets, I suggest skipping all kart modifications and the TUV to just save up for the Roadster. Then if you want, go crazy buying whatever you desire. Just remember, if you buy a Cruiser while you have a Roadster, you will have to buy the roadster again, so buying another kart after the Roadster is not really recommended. Buying a Roadster will not make a difference to your performance, but some really believe it does. Of course, it has not been properly proven, but it seems the three different levels of karts are just a fashion statement, and if you want to buy a Roadster it is just to make you look cool! 4. Avoid anyone who is doing glitches in Goofy Speedway. If you go into a race with someone doing the Speed Glitch, just do the best you can. Often, it glitches and a toon who is doing the glitch can actually end up last ! Even so, try and stay away from these people. 5. When starting the race, try and get off the blocks as early as possible and establish a lead. Getting an early lead, especially on the small courses, is vital! 6. Avoid bumping into people, or letting others bump into you. This is considered to be very rude when racing, as it can stop you in your tracks. This is often how 'stink wars' occur. 7. Treasure your weapons. If you get a banana peel, try and save it to drop it on a speed boost, if not on a sharp, yet fast corner. Careful, if they miss it you can slip on it next round! Get an anvil, wait to be really mean and drop it on someone who has just gone over a speed boost. With a pie, try and get your opponent before they go around a corner/down a straight with lots of bananas. These can be hard to do, but guarantee a great race. Make sure you don't use a speed boost you get straight away, save it for a long straight. A double speed boost is a brilliant, use the second one just at the end of the first. This will make you travel really fast! 8. When turning corners, it is important to know what type you are doing so you can position yourself right. Have a look at the course outline top corners to see. For a tight turn, take it wide and cut in at the last second, for a gradual turn, start on the inside and stay on the inside. This will guarantee a nice turn. The only place this doesn't apply is Blizzard Boulevard, as the track is too icy for a strategy. Breaking at corners slows you down on all courses and it is far better to just belt it and do your best! 9. Avoid wall-sliding. Many toons feel cheated and annoyed when someone unexpectedly wall-slides on a course like Blizzard Boulevard. This again, contributes to 'stink wars'. However, if you know how to use it, you may although I do not advise it unless you are racing with family/friends. 10. When racing in large groups, three or more, it is good to work out a strategy. If your friends are good racers, position yourself in second or third, even if you can get first. There are bound to be anvils on a long course, and the further back you are, the better weapons you get. Another good strategy is to establish a big lead, but this can be hard to maintain. Whatever your strategy is, stick to it. It should eventually work. Now contrary to popular belief, racing is not luck and is 99% skill. You need to know when to turn, how to turn, what line to take in your turn and what line to take down the straights after the turn. You need to remember where and when items have been places, how tricky courses are from previous experience, where critical speed-boosts, item boxes and sharp turns are, how good your opponents might be and very importantly, you must remember the strategy you stick to throughout the race. Racing requires brain-power and hand-eye coordination. Yes, you need an element of luck with items, but I can guarantee a win in at least two of every three races if you follow all of these tips. Happy Racing to all! Don't be afraid to really thrash someone using these tips. ![]() - Conor, Captain Corky, 125 laffer.

I have met several people in River who do bump on purpose. They have it mastered - it is easy to learn how.

i got some tricks too!
1) try starting and being last or whatever but not first because they will use drop or something and you will end up last! 2) when you get a drop while your second wait until you somehow be in the end and then use it

Nice tips! I wallslide a lot though and nobody ever notices...
Also, a warning about bananas: If you put them on a sharp corner or something where the other toon might hit it, that is good, but if they dont hit it, you might pick it up on the next round! (I've hit plenty of my own bananas. xD) |
