Cart acceleration/speed test

I know the official word is that all three types of carts perform the same, but given that some people are still convinced otherwise, I decided to try to test some of their performance factors. Here's what I did: I entered the Corkscrew Coliseum Practice track, by myself, and on the starting straightaway timed with a stopwatch how long it took to accelerate in a straight line from 0 - 70 mph. I did this for each cart, 10 times each. I then did some statistical analyses on the results, and came to the conclusion....

All three cart types accelerate at the same rate.

They all averaged 9.5 sec to go from 0 - 70 mph.

For you math geeks, I tested the results using a single factor ANOVA, with a critical value of 0.05. The resulting P value = 0.163.

I also drove each cart on the same track to see what the highest speed I could obtain was without using speed boosts. For all three carts it was the same - 85mph.

As for handling abilities... I still haven't figured out a good way to test that.

I think its a natural assumption that expensive karts perform better but really the reason new racers lose to tricked out karts is that they are new racers... lol. You get your kart all tricked out and you have raced quite a bit to get it there... with experience comes wins

Oh and nice stats MrTriVan... well done

Yeah, there is no significant difference between each kart. Its kind of like the placebo effect; the better the looking the kart is the faster people assume it goes.

Handling I am not too sure if there is a difference there either. Most people would say there is, but again, most poeple do say that some karts are faster than others, which you have proven wrong.

I have always thought this. I really didn't know what the point of getting a Roadster was...but I got it for show anyways

Very nice experiment. I'll be excited to see when and how you can come up a way to test handeling My hypothesis that there is no difference. Since these results have shown no change in speed, I want to assume the same for handeling, but you never know.
