Toontown at E3

Hey all!

I went to E3 yesterday (the perks of working in the video game industry) and I stopped by the Disney booth. They had a bunch of stuff on display including Tron 2.0, Nightmare Before Christmas Game Teaser, a sweet Kim Possible Game Boy Advance game and, of course, TOONTOWN ONLINE!!!

They were playing the game on four computers arranged around a sculpted toonish display. They even had gumball machines filled with jelly beans!

I talked for a while with a very nice woman named Laurie who indugled my toonish geekiness by not telling me to leave. I gave her my card, but I doubt she'll email me! I mentioned Toontown Central and she said that they get lots of "immediate" feedback from the community here.

There were computer disks (I snagged one) containing the E3 trailed that you can see in the Toontown Online downloads section.

Oh yeah, there were also cogs!!!! I got a picture with some, right before hitting them with a pie and doing my victory dance.

I don't know why I didn't get a shot of the display area (though you can kinda see it in the background of my picture). Maybe I'll see if one of the guys from work who's going back today can get an image.

I haven't played since Beta 2, but this got me excited again. I think I'll have to see if I can play. At the very least, my roommate will be happy. She likes to see everyone's victory dance!

Woot, I'm sticking that shot in the News section for a while :)

I always knew that the Disneybots were Cogs, but I'm surprised that they never dressed up for E3... :)

Oooohhh that is sweet! I'm so jealous of everyone that go to go! Where was/is that at?! Did they have any TT action figures or anything? Did you get any insider scoops?! That's just too cool, glad you got to go, hope you get some more shots to share with us! Those cog costumes are awesome, I'll have to make one for Halloween. More pics more more more!!!

Catmandu, did you throw a "nerfed" pie or a real pie? hehe

I would say "Welcome back" but if you haven't played since Beta 2 you never really quit, right? Welcome back anyway

By the way Pinks, that's a hilarious avatar you got there

I started right at the beginning of Beta 1. Then they took it all down for a while and started another beta (though some of us took the shortcut into the server that was found by the ARS people). I though that was Beta 2, but it may have just been a continuation of beta 1. So hard to keep track.

Last time I played, there were only four trolley games: Rings, Cannons, Minnie's Music and Tag.

As for E3, it's held in Los Angeles, and it's pretty amazing. All the new games are shown like World's of Warcraft, Half-Life 2, the new Medal of Honor expansion, Tony Hawk Under Ground, etc. The booth's are amazing too. EA, Sony, Nintendo and the other biggies spend millions on their expo showings. It's where all the big reviews spawn from as well as sales. There's nothing more intimidating than hearing "Jason, can you come demo this game for the buyer for Best Buy"! Luckily, we didn't have a booth this year, so I could just run around and check stuff out.

No action figures or what-not and no scoops. I didn't really press for info. Had I thought about it before hand, I would have had a bunch of questions ready for them!

I went also, and made sure to get plenty of pics for you guys

I had a pic of a Dev named Eric but my camera ate it. Sorry....

However, he wouldn't tell me much other than the jellybean thing in housing will be fixed (and we all get 1000 beans total) and we should expect a patch next week.

Other than that, they were very happy I was gonna get these pics to you here at TTC.com and you might wanna note the jellybean dispensers they had which give out Jelly Bellies.

Enjoy!

Its my understanding that you have to be invited to E3. Its not a Con that the public can just go to. Is this correct? Cool, for those that do get to go tho, I am also jealous.

E3

Nope, anyone can go to E3. However, there are only a select few who get to see what game developers have coming out in the not so distant future or "Sneak peeks". It would be very cool to go to one and Kudos to those of you who have had the opportunity
