For Camping Lure gags: The best way is to find a person who has or needs to camp trap. Lure will be more successful if there is a trap laid out. Tell them to get only Level 1-3 trap gags at the most. When you get to the top floor, just trap, lure & heal when needed. Another effective way to camp lure gags is to use sound. You lure, someone else sounds (also low level sound gags. See! The “Horn of Horror” aka the Bike Horn DOES come in handy sometimes!), letting you lure again the next time. Although this method doesn’t make lure more successful as trap will. You can do this also with really ANY type gag except Toon-up and Drop of course. Also, if someone with a more powerful Lure gag lures with you, this tends to help the success rate of lower Lure Gags. But the downfall is, it lowers the success rate of the higher lures succeeding by kind of averaging out the two. An important point of camping for Lure is this: If you don't have a successful hit, you won't get credit for the lure. So you can't just lure & let them unlure by themselves. You will NOT get credit for a cog that isn't hit while lured. A few people have made this mistake.
Camping Trap gags: The only thing you really need for this is someone with a good lure gag. Start using the smaller trap gags first, then bigger as you go up. If you have someone who needs to work Toon-Up, you can lay out trap after trap in front of a row of cogs while the other person toons up & when you get all of the traps you can laid out, then lure. You can repeat this if you like. Remember: Never lay two traps on top of each other. They will cancel each other out. Camping Drop: Now there are several ways to camp Drop gags. The MOST successful way I’ve seen is to Trap, Lure, and Drop. It seems there is a higher rate of Drop success with Trap & Lure. The second is to use squirt. Have someone get quite a few squirting flowers and squirt guns to stun the cogs. Drop seems to have less success with sound & throw gags, but they still can be used. Also, you can drop with someone who has a bigger drop gag, too. Again, this averages out the success rate though, as does luring with another person. Camping Toon-up: No real trick here except don’t hit the cogs & don’t lure them on the top floor. Keep on getting hit on the top floor & toon up until your Toon Up gags are all gone. It’s best to have at least two other people who can help keep everyone tooned up though, especially in bigger buildings. But for the most part, your friends, unless they need to work Toon Up too, need to let you do the tooning. If you get into a real sticky situation where everyone is down on laff points, just have someone lure them in & everyone else Toon Up. Camping throw & squirt: This is very easy to do. If you can, find someone with lure, just lure & hit, using lower gags first, and bigger gags last. Camping Sound No real trick here either except this is the one time where lure & sound go hand in hand. No, you won't get a knockback bonus but if the lure is successful you are guaranteed your sound won't miss. This is especially good for people with level 3 or less sound gags which miss quite often. Also, the same with lure & drop: You can sound with someone who has higher sound gags to increase the likelihood of a successful hit. If I've left something out, please feel free to comment. I hope this helps some of you out there!!! Now go level up! Again, I would stress that you DON'T do this while others (meaning non-friends/non-secret friends) are in the building. They may not understand or not want to do this with you. You'll get a lot of angry toons if they aren't clear on what exactly you're doing!!! If you do go in with other toons, at least "be prepared to heal the team if your camping causes injury" as Loosy Goosy suggested!!! Last edited by Bunny Summers; 01-24-2004 at 10:11 AM. |

Any toons interested in camping with me?
Bailey, my 99 laffer, needs to max out TRAP, LURE and DROP. He also has a task to kill 1000 cogs in Dreamland.
I would like to find at least 2 other toons working these same gags, to team-up with (over 60 laff please) and that would be available evenings between 9 and 11 Eastern time. It would help if you are already on my friends list since it is COMPLETELY full, but I might be able to find a spot or two for the right toon(s). Please PM me rather than posting to this thread. Thanks!

happens, hehe. Maybe add, or revise it to say "Be prepared to heal the team if your camping causes injury." I say this because most of the time you get non-friends whipping out their max'd cakes in pure panic mode, wiping out cog-cattle faster than it took to step out of the elevator. Therefore, most of the time (when playing with non-friends), you have to "force" a little milking but be ready to take care of those who helped get you there. By the way Bunny, you need to add "Farming" to the list of names hehe

Do think I should add "Shucking" and "Plowing" too? Yeah, sounds like we're down at "Old MacDonald's Farm" doesn't it? Hehehe.

You know, there is a chance that these non/secret and or non friends won't figure out what you are trying to do. I've been camping with non-secrets and also participated as a walk-in, and all went well. Give it a chance, you just might luck in.

I was doing some research, and I believe the idea of using small gags at the bottom and big at the top is wrong. I made a spreadsheat that caculates the maximum ammount of points can be gained by attacking a certain level cog with a given gag, taking into account the maximum that can be caried, and how many hits the cog can take. It turns out that level 2 and 3 allow for more points. For example...say you're in the top floor and are against a 10 and are working squirt. Hitting it 17 times with level 2 give 34 pts times the floor multipyer. A 4 or 5 only would give 25-28 before the cog dies. Level 2 is the most efficent. Be sure though to make your last "killer" shot a level 6. I need to make some more mods to the file, and I'll post it here for everyone's enjoyment. Obvioiusly this doesn't apply to lure and TU 'cause they don't hurt the cogs.

If I'm not mistaken, you can tell when you hit 200 points in a building. When I was camping toonup, my screen showed "no points" as soon as I went over 200. The gag wasn't "greyed out" as it would be if it were too strong.
Can anyone confirm this? |

Fill up on your 3 highest gags: Level 4 = Aoogahs Level 5 = Elephant trunks Level 6 = Foghorns On the 4th floor start using as many of Aoogahs (you can hold up to 17) as it takes to kill off the cogs. When you get to the top floor, continue to use the Aoogahs until you're out, then start on the Elephant trunks (you can hold 7). If the cogs in front of you are nearly dead, THEN finish them off with a foghorn (can hold 3). I don't really think you need to go below a level 4 gag though because you will earn enough experience points to reach the 200 maximum but you're welcome to use lower ones. Just realize that once your toon has 200 experience points in a building, that's it! You can't get anymore. If you only have a level 1 or 2 gag, I would just save those gags for the top floors. You can't hold that many of those anyway. Do that in a 2 or 3 story building if you choose to camp for those, preferably in TTC or Donald's Dock, for lower level cogs. Lower level gags don't work well on high level cogs. Last edited by Bunny Summers; 01-25-2004 at 10:13 AM. |

How to tell strangers to Camp
Today, some friends...SF and regular...went into a building with a stranger (not friend to any of us). We managed to teach him what we wanted on the top floor. As we got into the elevator for the top floor, the speedchat banter went something like this:
"Let's use toon-up" "Let's work on that" "I need more gags" "I think you should choose toon-up" As we started the battle two of us would repeat what the goal was...helping our stranger partner build his gags too. When we got hit, we used happy speedchat and when cogs missed, we used sad phrases. In the end, he passed without comment and used TU as though he'd been camping with us for days. Just some thoughts from a multiple toon player.
