Talking New connection fix tutorial

I am making this new one because i have studied on MTU's recently and toontown and realized the mtu number 576 was not that bright to set and i will tell you why and i am sry for all those i told to set this too.

Setting your mtu to 576 is basic internet. Alot of people dont have basic internet nowadays so setting it to this if you have anything better, must have slowed your computer and i apoligize. I will copy and paste what i wrote before and edit it a little.

Problem-While logged in you get a message saying connection to toontown servers and is unexpectedly broken and sometimes game closes and there is said to be a bug.

Solving- Ok this is quick and simple and not like the port methods which stink. Ok so log into your router which you do it by typeing this "192.168.1.1" without the exclamation points. You type that in the box where you type things like toontowncentral.com and stuff. Now you will be on this main screen and you will see things like:
Router Name:
Host Name:
Domain name:
MTU:

When you get to MTU, switch it to manual and then type in the numbers 1000 (or less). Now save settings and Hard reset your router. Hard resseting your router consists of you unplugging it, and waiting 10 minutes to plug it back in. Now go on toontown and have some fun

Also, if you have a different router than the 2 mentioned above, please post yours and i will study it and tell you what to do for that one. I have tried this method and it does work.

If you have any questions of what this does to your computer or your just confused, post your questions here. Hope this helps

1000 is basic for what toontown requires and you can do less but it will mess with your internet if its any lower.

Also if you still have trouble, try the number 576 and when you get off toontown change it back or if it doesnt affect your internet then leave it.

Talking might as well

I might as well post this her because i know the question will come out. This is what an mtu is.

MTU Stands for maximum transmission unit. it refers to the size (in bytes) of the largest packet that a given layer of a communications protocol can pass onwards. A high MTU can sometimes be good, but sometimes make it so your router has to work double time making you computer semi-laggy. Toontown cant have to many packets sent at once, making 1000 or less the perfect amount to send out so it can detect that you have a strong connection rather than sometimes it failing due to lag problems. Hope this helps

I'll try it. Hopefully this will solve the problem.

This only applies to router-caused disconnects, right? It won't solve the disconnects on TT's end, such as the disconnects associated with a new release on test.

also

You would probably rather sticking with exactly 1000 unless you have basic internet. Since some numbers less still knock you off.

Will this cause any side effects? Because if it slows our connection down by a milisecond, my parents would never want to do it.

no

This will not slow your internet connection unless you go lower than 1000 because most peoples mtu is auto at 1000-1500.
