Lightbulb pond recommendations (updated 9/02/04)

Well, here goes. I've compiled data from TUFS in an attempt to help toons get their fish. I've created a one page Word document that shows each fish and the ponds (according to TUFS data for the gold rod) that have the most of that fish (meaning you can catch it in the fewest buckets) and the heaviest of that fish (in case you are looking for a new record for a species).

Since there is little or no data in TUFS for the ultra rares (Grizzly, Devil Ray, etc.) this chart can't help you there. But if you are lacking any of the less rare species (Scurvy, for example) this may help you. I've shown an estimate of how many buckets of fish you would need to catch at the pond to get the fish so you have an idea what you are up against.

This in no way replaces Batleth's excellent guide. And because the data in TUFS is incomplete the recommendations may change. But this will not send you to a pond where the fish is not catchable!
----------------
7/23/04: I've added recommendations for the Holey Mackerel. The data is a little spotty, but it jives with what I've read on the forum so I'll go out on a limb. The number of buckets for this is probably low, so don't be shocked if it takes more. I forgot to mention the first time around that "ned" means "not enough data" in the chart. I'm sure most of you figured it out, but I'll mention it just the same.

All the data is now up to date with what is currently on TUFS. Many of the recommendations have changed. They will begin to stabilize as we get more data into TUFS. Please help if you can!
----------------
7/30/04: Several recommendations have changed. Most of the changes, however, are simply adjustments to the percentages. I've also tweaked the formula I was using to calculate the number of buckets. Now the most popular fish are listed as requiring only 1 bucket to catch.
----------------
8/08/04: Updated the data again.
----------------
09/02/04: Updated the data again. I've added the Allstar despite scanty data. I don't think the number of buckets listed will incite an Allstar rush. If anyone on TUFS could fish DG pg (especially if you already have an Allstar) to see if we can replicate this catch, I'd appreciate it. I've started, but I'm less than halfway due to limited time.
----------------
10/26/2007: Uploaded the file again to correct a corrupted file situation.

My Mood:
Looks pretty good and I really like the format for it. Nice job. Hope it helps a few that are having problems finding a few of the less mega-rare species.

I wish we could get more members for TUFS to help with the database there. There is a slight variable between the forum and TUFS's data. Only a handful of members seem to be doing most of the data gathering for TUFS lately. If anyone wishes to join TUFS, the thread all about it is stickied at the top of the fishing hole. I use it often to calculate stats for the guide, so you'd be helping everyone out.

On the ultra and extremely rare species, I'd really like to set up a species report thread for each like Momo has for the devil ray and all star, but Momo and I just don't have the time to do that ourselves. I really think it's our best bet in trying to collect data on them. You'd have to go through all the threads containing catches for each of the ultra rares and comply a database on them. Then put them in a useful format like Momo's. Anyone wishing to do this and commit to it, please feel free to start one. I'll help out or answer questions, if you'd like. Even if you only want to do one species, it'd help us all.

Thanks!

Thanks, Batleth.

Yes, please toons with a little patience join TUFS. It'll improve the data for all these stats that can be so helpful.

Impressive effort. It supplements Batleth's fishing guide quite well because it offers concrete expectations in terms of buckets needed.

I noted in your document that you're not sure if the Piano can be found at one's estate. It can. Coincidently, I caught one there last night. Sorry I didn't take a screenshot of it.

Thanks for the info...

Thanks for the info Dr. Moonlight. I'll note it for the next update (in a couple of weeks if there seems to be interest).

Sandy Dandywhip and I went fishing with Luna Star yesterday evening. Luna started with 44/70 fish and in one evening she made it to 50 fish! Great job Luna! Congrats on your laff boost!

I've updated the file again as of today. Thanks to the toons who have helped by entering data into TUFS. We now have a minimum of 400 fish caught in each pond.

For details on the updated file, see the initial post.

I hope this is helpful. I've helped several friends bag needed fish using this data, so good luck!
