Hmmmm
If "things to buy" tasks are available from the beginning, my "new" toons will have much more impressive houses - by the time they reach Daisy's - than Sir Spunky Flipperflap has, and he has worked a lot harder. The poor guy's wardrobe is even empty (and will be until he has killed another 850 DL cogs).
