Dialup or Broadband - which are you?

I only recently managed to (finally) qualify for broadband access.

Before that no matter how much we wanted to, we were outside the area where it could be provided. That meant that for over 2 years we played TT on a dialup account. The game played sort of OK (now I know how much better it can be with some bandwidth), but the updates to the game used to drive me crazy!

So anyway, cutting a long story short, we were talking about how many play with dialup, and my guess was that we have a pretty high proportion that do. Hence this poll.

And if any of you want to respond with reasons why you are on dialup - cost/location/whatever - then that would be fine by me.

We pay 45 a month canadian dollars for high speed DSL.
We have two computers hooked up to the modem.
I play with a friend in Australia too who is stuck with dialup, I can't really tell, but she said cable is pricey there, like 90 a month aussie dollars.

I play on 56k and it drives me nuts. Disconnections, lag, the whole works. We can't get DSL nor cable yet (we have been trying to convince our phone company to extend their DSL area, no luck yet) and satellite internet is way too expensive. you can pay $100 initially and $90 a month for a year, or you can pay $500 up front for the gear and get the regular price of $60 a month.

We have BrightHouse Roadrunner, its not that much to use it to. For people that use dial-up it's been what I've used lately when I try internet connection. I use NetZero and something called PeoplePC. NetZero is only $9.95, and PeoplePC is $9.95 and $10.95 for high speed access.

i got dialup

I have 56k only because their is nothing else available in my area. I would be willing to pay a little extra for broadband. Quick question, what is the difference between cable and DSL? I have also thought about getting satelilte internet since we do have Directv, but I had no clue that it was that expensive as Towelie mentioned! Their's no way i'm going to pay that much.

We used to use AT&T broadband DSL, but we stopped using their service right before they changed into Comcast becuase they were not providing enough quality for the price we had to pay (Die Comcast!). So now we use Megapath DSL.
