For the WRT54G
Log on to your setup page by typing http://192.168.1.1/ in your address bar. It will ask for you to log in with your password. If you've never set a password just type in 'admin' in the password field and hit enter.
Once you're in, you will see the Basic Setup page. Across the top of the page, you will see different tabs. You will want to click on the one that says Applications & Gaming. There will be more tabs at the top of this page. Click on the one that says Port Triggering. On this page, you'll see a bunch of blank boxes that need to be filled in. This is where you do the port triggering. First let's do port 6112. On the first line, where it says Application, put TT6112 in that box. This is just a general name so you will know what it is; you can call it whatever you want. Next to that, under Triggered Range, put 6112 in both the Start Port and End Port boxes. Under Forwarded Range put 6112 in both the Start Port and End Port boxes. You should now have 6112 in all four boxes on that line. Check the Enable Box. Now do the same thing for the other two ports, 443 and 6667. Once you're done, make sure to click the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page. If you forget, it won't work and you'll have to do it all over. Once you have that done, go to the router, unplug it from the wall, keep it unplugged for at least 30 seconds (doesn't have to be any longer than that but make sure it isn't less), and plug it back in. Make sure nobody else is doing something on their computers first, as this will turn off anyone who is on a wireless connection for that 30 seconds! Let them know it will be down for a minute or so. After you plug it back in, go back to your computer, restart it, then come back and try Toontown. |

I cannot stay connected.
I'm not sure how to perform this port fowarding, because I have no firewall. I have wieless internet that sends the data through the air. It then comes into a tower above my house and comes through a cable that then plugs into the back of my computer. So what could I do to make this work? |

I want to say THANK YOU! I recently (April) bought a new computer. I hadn't played TT in over a year because the lag made it miserable on my old computer. When I got this new computer I also went wireless *linksys*. I disconnected, on average, every 15 minutes. Of course getting back on line was fast but that doesn't help when you are in the middle of a VP.
I hesitated to do this tip but finally took 2 minutes and set up my router... I have not disconnected at all in 2 days! I have tried everything TO disconnect and haven't. I have TP'd to a friend in Nutty River and went to every playground, through every door I could find and I still haven't disconnected. So, thanks so much! |

I have recently started having issues with ToonTown after 4 months of no issues.
I see various posts about port triggering ports 6667 and 6112. Ok, I have done that. I also see some posts about port 80 and port 443. Not sure, but I did those as well. I saw some other things about the MTU. Mine is fine. Turns out something else is going on here. I keep loosing all my connects to the net - all four computers will be simultaneously disconnected from the internet. After about 10 secs they come back on - but of course if you are on ToonTown, that is more than enough to boot you off. |

Try doing a soft boot - you know, unplugging the router for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Some routers need that every once in a while. If you have already done a soft boot of the router and are still having problems, double check all of your router's settings - not just the ones pertaining to Toontown - and verify that they are correct. If they are, it may be time for a new router. Also, I saw on another post you made that you had tried setting the MTU to 1364. For toontown, it needs to actually be lower on some routers - the WRT54G at least. Try setting it to 900, rebooting the router, playing again. The only way I could get disconecting on mine to stop completely was to do port triggering and set the MTU to 900. It's worth a try. |

I am in the process of trying to get my disconnects problem fixed. It has been a real headache for us. We have a Lynksys router and I have found the port forwarding setting page on there website, but have been unable to find anything about port triggering. Just to see if it would work, I went ahead and put those port numbers down in the port forwarding section, but it hasn't worked.
There is a section on their website that you have to have a password get into. It seems from the previous messages that I have read, you have been able to get by this rather easily, but as of yet, I have been unable to do so. It keeps telling me that I am unauthorized. Hopefully I will be able to figure this all out soon. Playing TT uninterrupted would be a dream come true!! |

Tried it, and it didn't work. I called our Voip phone provider up, they are the ones who sent us the router, and I was told that you could not trigger ports with this particular device. So, it looks like we are in the market for a new router.

before everyone panics, isn't it possible that Toon Town took themself "offline" to fix their major problem? I mean everyone has been booted lately in the cfo, ceo,vp and everytime those silly fireworks come on, everyone who is in battles on streets, buildings wherever freeze. The fireworks were nice for the 4th, but a weeks worth of them is sorta ridiculous don't you think? With the fireworks animation, the overload of toons playing, their memory leak problem and bug problems in CFO and CEO, it makes sense to me that they had to go offline to fix the problems, but that is just my thought, and everyone has thoughts right? LOL

Guide to preventing " Your Internet Connection has been lost!" Error Message.
I noticed the sticky at the top isn't very specific, so I figured the sticky could use an update. This is a specific guide with step by step instructions on how to fix your connection.
1. Go to your Linksys router config screen (http://192.168.1.1 for mostly everyone). 2. Logon with whatever adminstrative ID and password you defined when you setup the router. (If you aren't sure what it is, leave the "username" area blank and type the word "admin" for password.) 3. Select "Applications and Gaming" from the main menu 4. Select "Port Triggering" from the sub-menu. 5. On this screen, make 2 entries. The first can be called "Toontown1", then specify port number 6112 in all 4 of the port fields. Check "Enable" at the end of this line. Underneath it, make another entry called "Toontown2" that specifies port 6667 in all 4 port fields, and check "Enable" for it. 6. At the bottom of this screen, press the "Save Changes" button. 7. Startup Toontown and give it a try! =) I hope you enjoy! (Mods please sticky?) This method seems not to work with Safari. (So far known works with Internet explorer and Firefox.) Last edited by Prince J.C. Thunderwoof; 07-14-2008 at 01:41 AM.. Reason: Edit. |
